therubeyour copy of SeaMonkey is old and probably has known security... - haven't seen that in a long long time...
-
tommanyes, it has known security :D
-
frg_Away2.53.22 is a bit behind. Beta should appear soon
-
wizard_anyone got a minute to help a seamonkey newbie?
-
tommanyou have two
-
wizard_just looking to import a password list from firefox in csv format into seamonkey. this is basically the only thing keeping me from using SM as my daily driver. looking at the documentation it looks like they've got a sync option, but that's not anywhere in any of my menus in 2.53.21
-
tommanI have never used the sync stuff, but it seems it's pretty much gone these days as indeed I can't find anything in the menus
-
tommanhowever, you may try importing manually your passwords file support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
-
tommantry copying your Firefox' key4.db and logins.json into your SeaMonkey profile (overwriting the existing ones - make backups of everything first!)
-
tommanthen at next startup your passwords should be there, since both browsers use the same backend these days
-
wizard_cheeky, good idea. i'll report back
-
tomman(do all this with the browser closed!)
-
tommanThis is how SeaMonkey imported your logons in ye ole' times, although the files were different
-
wizard_excellent. i was out there looking for an extension but if it's this easy i can understand why there isn't one. i'll be back shortly, thanks for the help
-
wizard_thanks tomman, that did everything i needed. went one step further and got my bookmarks too. appreciate you putting me on the right track
-
tommanyou can import your profile piecemeal like that, as long as the formats are compatible
-
tommansome newer stuff at Firefox side won't import, but most of the basics will
-
wizard_yeah i've never really used too many of the more modern features in firefox anyhow, nothing to move over on that front. would have been convenient to just sign in with the same email address and have it all happen automagically but that really was easy
