I thought javascript was quite accepting of different types in some situations

IIRC this bank uses Ruby on all things on their backend

with a unhealthy amount of non-Chromeist JS for the frontend

fitting that they'd use a programming language with the name of a gem

Well.. Moonchild has failed with Cloudflare.. he is now starting to puff up on the forum with legal bs and suites.. Moonchild Productions as far as I know is not a legal entity and Moonchild when all is lost ALWAYS falls back on blustery legal grounds that often have no basis in reality except as intemidation of the ignorant.
