njsg yeah
-
tomman
njsg: s/.pt/.ve/
-
tomman
basically the same crap here :)
-
Ximo
you can reliably bitch about .ve on what appears to be a 24/7 basis, you have it a lot lot lot better than most of the .ve expats in .es ;)
-
tomman
we live in a constant "hold my beer" status, yes :D
-
Ximo
:D
-
tomman
Anyway, nothing to report today on Day 17 on the Clownflare Siege...
-
tomman
no news is... good news?
-
tomman
no, no news is no news
-
Ximo
clownflare hasn't pissed me off this week, yet
-
tomman
at least it doesn't vomit JS errors anymore on the dev console
-
tomman
it just shuts itself like a clam
-
tomman
"Update your browser!"
-
tomman
even the error message is misleading as hell
-
tomman
the entire error page is drawn via JS
-
njsg
it would be good if the company could at least have a communication channel for this
-
tomman
sure, you can always become a Business Customerâ„¢
-
tomman
...so you can get told to pound sand while they milk your Corporate Visa, yay~!
-
tomman
it's a shame that noone is doing public RE over Clownflare fingerprinting/blocking crap
-
tomman
other than the few notes I found at Ladybird's Github
-
tomman
(and if anyone is doing RE on its own, why would even bother publishing it? Might as well consider it weapons-grade assets and sell them to bot writers)
-
njsg
RE I wouldn't say, but debugging I've done it a couple times, but it gets more tiring and I still need to get back the VM setup that enabled me to do more of that testing
-
njsg
say, when I digged through HTTP interactions side-by-side in two inspectors to find their self-DDoS was caused by Origin:
-
tomman
oh pretty
-
tomman
the WSJ now serves captchas
-
tomman
then I solve the captcha and... I got blocked
-
tomman
let me guess: they hate my CGNAT too
-
tomman
their reasoning is bogus: "something has intrigued us about your browser behavior"
-
tomman
either I browse at a superhuman speed (wat), I'm tampering with JavaScript (wtf), or I house a robot in my same IP
-
UsL
wsj, no loss really. But the fact that sites should care about simple get requests are beyond stupid. Let me fetch the damn page. I could accept if post, put, patch, and delete would get elevated to some captcha check. But get requests should just get a pass.
-
tomman
Amazingly the WSJ captcha works fine on SeaMonkey - they haven't gone nuclear like Clownflare
-
tomman
but solving a captcha just to get the door slammed at your face is RUDE
-
tomman
not even *Google* goes that far
-
IanN_Away
hiya nsITobin
-
nsITobin
i am gonna be banned from libra chat shortly
-
nsITobin
IanN_Away: so i am not having a good day
-
nsITobin
I can't be on this network anymore..
-
nsITobin
because I can't NOT walk away from being instantly challeged when I am being sincere .. and its escilated again elsewhere on libra
-
nsITobin
Not gonna bring it here.. don't worry..
-
nsITobin
sorry IanN_Away did you ping me for a reason I just rolled over?
-
tomman
nsITobin: the safe word for today is "Clownflare" :D
-
nsITobin
steamrolled whatever the termology is.. i am drained
-
tomman
damn, I now have another idea for the hat embroidery shop
-
tomman
they will embroider any logo you want for $2.50, and you can buy blank baseball caps for another $2.50 at a nearby shop
-
tomman
-
tomman
so I'll order a "Clownflare" hat instead, and maybe do the orange hat in any other color, maybe red and white
-
nsITobin
Make Cloudflare Accessible Again.
-
nsITobin
tomman:
-
nsITobin
that's the hat
-
nsITobin
or rather.. Make Cloudflare Not Exist Again.
-
nsITobin
even better
-
nsITobin
tomman: any new developments or just persistance
-
tomman
I might be looking on switching hosting providers in the future
-
nsITobin
I recommend Afterburst
-
nsITobin
unmetered bandwith cheap prices leaves you alone.. semi-reasonable tos
-
tomman
a user of my website recently reported getting a (non-Clownflare) captcha, and found my provider uses some protection crap that they had told nothing about
-
tomman
also, Clownflare is an option that they already enforce to enter their customer service portal
-
tomman
I need something I can pay in local currency, preferably :/
-
nsITobin
can you use paypal?
-
tomman
I can use a international debit card, but should be a low amount as buying currency from the banks here is... hard
-
tomman
and the black market is expensive
-
tomman
And for other reasons I prefer to deal with a national provider
-
nsITobin
right
-
nsITobin
tomman: i figured it out
-
nsITobin
not really
-
nsITobin
but maybe
-
nsITobin
i dunno I will think about it some more
-
nsITobin
tomman: yeah afterburst does have credit card payments through stripe
-
IanN_Away
nsITobin: I was just saying hi
-
nsITobin
ah ok.. How are you?
-
IanN_Away
nsITobin: not too bad thanks and you?
-
nsITobin
aside from earlier.. fine over all.. bit drained.. gonna cook up a pork steak
-
IanN_Away
nsITobin: sounds tasty
-
nsITobin
yeah people look down on the pork steak because it isn't a loin chop but you wanna subsist on something that is versitile and has enough fat to stand up to different kinds of cooking.. go pork steak or sholder roast
-
nsITobin
plus ever try grilling a pork loin chop? it is easier to grill chicken breast.. but a pork steak is BEST when grilled preferably over charcoal
-
IanN_Away
nsITobin: I have some beef rump steak for tomorrow
-
nsITobin
awesome
