"Day 14 of the Clownflare Siege"
-
tomman
no love so far
-
tomman
-
tomman
that recaps the media attention
-
tomman
some writers are swamped into work so they have no chance to write about this attack
-
tomman
others HATE Clownflare even more than us, so they consider the brickwall a good thing because those are websites that we should let rot (ignoring that it impacts sites people have no choice on using them)
-
tomman
but surprisingly Clownflare DID deployed a fix for FF115ESR
-
tomman
...that one is indeed surprising since the current ESR is 128, but maybe CF customers still serve a lot of Windows 7 users?
-
frg_Away
They don't want bad press and breaking a Firefox in service is bad press.
-
frg_Away
Breaking fringe browsers is noise for them.
-
nsITobin
I almost forgot what it was like to suddenly realize it is like 3am and I should be sleeping not coding and listening to metal
-
nsITobin
I could use a nap :P
-
frg_Away
zzzzzz
-
frg_Away
1 sheep 2 sheeps 3 sheeps 4 sheeps and so it goes on
-
nsITobin
eh I'll be ok just run on less for today if I did nap i suspect it would be hours and I'd start slipping off my sleep cycle i been firmly sticking to
-
nsITobin
cause most might have noticed in the past i'd be up at any hour and slide around the clock
-
nsITobin
god damned php 8.. 8.4 depercated some xml functionality and also some older php functionality that fundamentally busts every xml lib that was abandoned before the 2010s
-
nsITobin
including our magical rdf parser
-
nsITobin
it isn't an issue right now but will be down the road .. unless i do something about it one way or another
-
tomman
ha, reminds me the sorry state of Wine's AppDB right now
-
tomman
someone flicked the switch to PHP8 on, and... the entire thing burst in flames
-
tomman
they're still picking the pieces and gluing them back... one feature at a time, maybe
-
tomman
I haven't touched a single line of PHP (professionally) since my second internship at college, circa 2009
-
tomman
dunno what PHP version we used back then, probably 4.x
-
nsITobin
I'd rather fork 7.3 but the window for that has left me.. 8.1 is in rhel so will get sec updates longer than most.. I dunno a php fork may be in order.. there are massive swaths of language changes I don't think are needed and depercations that are pissing me off..
-
nsITobin
I might be able to fix it but not today :P
-
therube
EOL markers. who would have ever thought.
-
nsITobin
they seem to be depercating half the language and altering the rest to fit all these strange pythonic javascript and obscure language constructs.. I just wanna make a webpage for christ sakes
-
nsITobin
i mean at the end of the day.. I just wanna make several websites with things on em
-
nsITobin
why has this become so complicated and cryptic and not reliable..
-
nsITobin
all 33 developers with voting rights voted to schedule removal of compatibility with some of the most enduring and robust xml related classes no one has made a replacement for or are so overburdoned by a dependancy chain its basically a framework not a lib
-
nsITobin
the changes they have been doing have been chiefly centered around exploiting the stricter types and weird constructs or common newer constructs weirdly added all while busting libs left and right.. PHP since 8 seems to be geared to corperate framework development completely now..
-
nsITobin
yeah this entire class is based on how xml_set_object works..
-
nsITobin
I may have fixed it but its relying on some OTHER older syntax that may become depercated later.. i dunno
-
Sompi
seems that the shortcut keys to downloads has been changed again in Firefox
-
nsITobin
isn
-
Sompi
now it is ctrl+shift+y
-
nsITobin
isn't it ctrl shift j
-
Sompi
no
-
Sompi
it isn't anymore
-
Sompi
now it is y
-
nsITobin
... how come
-
Sompi
why they keep changing stuff like that
-
nsITobin
what is j assigned to now?
-
nsITobin
if it was the library window in general I could live with it but if its not assigned or is an unrelated function I am gonna be not happy
-
nsITobin
Sompi:
-
nsITobin
cause downloads are hacked into the places window in firefox
-
Sompi
ctrl+shift+j goes to some weird "parent process browser console" and ctrl+j moves the focus to the search engine box

nsITobin
How are you Sompi?
-
nsITobin
doing well?
-
Sompi
I'm ok
-
nsITobin
splitting my "parsing" of various types to its own module.. to be called by content module.. enough to justify a new class
-
nsITobin

gitlab wip updated
