Well, after a few bootloops it MAY let you enter the BIOS and adjust things

but once you unplug it from power... it will power on on its own and bootloop AGAIN as soon as you replug power

tomman: at one point GNOME started requiring desktop entry files, setting the associations from within seamonkey will create some icon-less desktop entries, no idea if that's a suitable starting point

20 years later there is still a lot of black magic, voodoo, and fairy dust behind those DE integration bits

(setting the associations will also set protocol and filetype associations the freedesktop way)

for example on some setups, integrating with MATE may involve a few logoff-logon cycles for things to stick

(doesn't set the other ways such as env variables, though; but from what I've seen, freedesktop doesn't seem to care much about that)

while on others It Just Works™ at the first try

(also, what I mean really is, going to the settings to create file association does create these .desktop files. Short ones, maybe it depends on the DE.)
