Why Github's code browsing does not work on Seamonkey? It does not even throw any errors to the console. Just a blank page.
-
Sompi_
Does Seamonkey parse something differently than Firefox and Chrome, or does Github just serve a different version of the page to Seamonkey?
-
Sompi_
It works even on Links that does not have javascript support at all, but Seamonkey gets just a blank page
-
Sompi_
It shows a blank page even when I disable JavaScript from the console
-
WG9s
Sompi_: probabli dependent on some new chromism and not properly falling back if it does not work.
-
njsg
... it works on links?
-
njsg
Sompi_: are you testing beyond the top level? a Links UA still gives me nothing in github
-
njsg
doesn't work in Elinks, but if this is something a UA override helps with, I'd love to know
-
njsg
so far they broke it so that only the top-level is shown without javascript, you can't even look at text files anymore without requesting the raw version
-
njsg
AFAIK this is all on GitHub's, as they decided they don't want to do something as simple as offering a directory listing without relying on advanced JS
-
njsg
commit lists sometimes show, sometimes don't
-
njsg
the only way to get it to show consistently is to add .atom at the end :-P

radio-browser.info the Chromeism of the Day award goes to...

> let d=(()=>{class L{static#e=this.__symbol__=a;static assertZonePatched()
-
tomman
concretely, that "static#e"
-
tomman
what the hell does that # there!?
-
tomman
apparently that's a "private field"

relatively shiny

> Since a class static initialization block is always nested inside a class, it has access to that class’s private fields.
-
tomman
uh, in Java you need none of this nonsense
-
tomman
private members are accessible from anywhere within the class, even initializing blocks
-
tomman
(you may need to set the variable "final" if accessing from a static context, tho)

I notice that Ebay now does not work on Seamonkey 1.53.18.1. Is that a known problem with a fix forthcoming or just a sign that seamonkey is reaching its EOL?
-
TrevorH
specifically if you have Authenticator enabled then you can type in the 6 digit valid-for-30s passcode but nothing happens
-
TrevorH
if you disable authenticator then it sends me a text containing a code and then doesn't let me enter it
-
tomman
no, the sign is that eBay also drank the Google kool-aid. HARD
-
tomman
having said that, what errors are you getting in console?
-
TrevorH
this is seamonkey on Fedora 38 BTW
-
tomman
try the nightlies
-
tomman
but first, look at the error console (F12)

line 12, col 297533 is my favorite.. how can you even debug that.. seriously
-
TrevorH
scroll right :-D ... A lot
-
TrevorH
so that was the error it wrote when it gives me the 6 digit entry panel for the code. If I enter the code then I get no other errors
-
TrevorH
but to enter the code need me to press 1<tab>2<tab>3<tab>4<tab>5<tab>6 unlike other browsers which auto jump to the next digit entry box
-
TrevorH
been using seamonkey a long time and I really don't want to stop if I can help it
-
TrevorH
used to build it on OS/2 about 100 years ago!
-
MattATobin
I would say go with tomman's suggestion and see if it is any different on nightlies
-
TrevorH
I have also reported this to ebay BTW and they logged it... as a problem in Mozilla firefox (I couldn't be bothered to try to correct them!)
-
MattATobin
I still think SeaMonkey nightlies should have the Depthcharge codename like Firefox had minefield back in the days when everything wasn't a calendar date to target
-
TrevorH
no difference when using seamonkey-2.53.19b1pre.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
