MattATobin: well thinking if your reasoning for anting the les secure tls requirements is to manage a localrouter than perhaps only permitting them on you local net would be a great solutilon. btw are no vulerabilities per se in the older tls versions it is just si thought based on better ways to break encryption they are mor susceptable to brute forse breaking the encyption so not realy a...
-
WG9s
...security vulerablitly jsut are more vulnerable to being brute force decrypted. still better than no encryption
-
tomman
it's 2023 and dealing with SSL on LANs is STILL a pain
-
tomman
remember that SSL was invented about 30 years ago to secure your credit card numbers, not to protect your chat logs
-
WG9s
issue is not they are vulnerable just no longer non brute force breakable and perhaps allowing them lulls non-informed users into a false sense of security because they have lerned if it is htps it is OK which is wrong.
-
WG9s
so I still think off by default and only way to enable it is with a huge warning and then perhaps an only permit on my local lan or only to a list of IP addresses to eprmit you to manage your local router.
-
IanN
-
WG9s
we need to understand the issue with not allowing and come up with a minimal exposure soutil to not require you to buy a new router

Nothing new from me
-
IanN
still not heard back from MoCo following our response to their email
-
WG9s
yes would be nice to know exactly what does this mean. what infrastucture will we no longer be able to use?
-
frg_away
Not holding my breath but we will see.
-
frg_away
WG9s all of it
-
IanN
Status of the SeaMonkey Infrastructure
-
WG9s
b ut i bet it is having SeaMonkey as a thing on their bugzilla and m ore likely having to pay for all of our stuff int /pub/seamonkey on archive.mozilla.org and ftp.mozilla.org which causes them money on their cloud services
-
frg_away
ewong has set up a Rocky 8 builder and maybe a Server 2019 too now.
-
IanN
WG9s: we are waiting for clarity from MoCo
-
WG9s
an i see none is forthcoming
-
frg_away
cost was/is low. We could cover it. For bugzilla, Pontoon and source you probably end up counting pennies.
-
frg_away
Anyway lets wait for an answer.
-
tomman
At this point, what part of the project still stays/relies on Mozilla infra?
-
frg_away
Translations bugzilla, central source and addons via MZLA appendix. add-ons is basically independent but I suspect it is not seen this way.
-
WG9s
i really think it is the arcive.mozilla.org and frp.mozilla.org space taken up on their cloud service that they want to get us off of to save money every month
-
frg_away
and distribution of course.
-
njsg
if archive/ftp storage space is the issue, I guess they could say so specifically
-
WG9s
we need to know what is the biggest issue an set up a priority list and schedule would be more useful than get off everything (with no definition of what there is) by a date
-
WG9s
i think the archive/ftp space was never an issue before I restarted posting nightly builds
-
WG9s
and now they have done something to post that from working so now i really do not understand the issue at all
-
frg_away
WG9s cost is low and we could clean up nightly too.
-
WG9s
frg_away: well we can;t because they have now fixed it so that i can no longer post anything new now remove anythong old
-
WG9s
has been linke this since June 1st
-
frg_away
It came probably up with the move from amazon to google cloud. I would not loose much sleep over it.
-
WG9s
anyway I think enough for this topic
-
IanN
Status of the SeaMonkey Source Tree
-
WG9s
actually the inablity to post new came from the new and the inability to remove unwanted pre-dated the move to Google
-
frg_away
Both building. Cleaned up regexp patches with bucs help and even found an erro which unbroke a site. So test todays 2.53.18 a bit.
-
frg_away
I am on SpiderMonkey changes locally. In the middle of 61a1 now but needs more work.
-
IanN
all good stuff
-
tomman
reminder to myself for upgrading my nightly

i'm digging into other backports for 58/59/60

IanN
s/for/from/
-
WG9s
I am still on trying to get linux-64 bit builds on a system where 64-bit libs are in /usr/lib64 rather than /usr/lib to work using clang 16
-
frg_away
yes legacy js is out so hopefully we don't see more add-on breakage after 2.53.18. No promises but looks good.
-
WG9s
bget errors aying can not find X11 libs when i backport the bug that should fix it I get non-sensical errors about clang and pango
-
WG9s
get errors saying
-
WG9s
i really don;t want to say you cannot build using clang 16 and later on a redhat derivative build system
-
frg_away
clang 16 seems to have other problems so I think staying with 15 is a safe bet anyway. Seems mozilla cludged aorund some rust issues with it.
-
IanN
let things settle
-
WG9s
works fine with m-c so would seem missing a required backport
-
IanN
Release Train
-
frg_away
2.53.17 is done. Shoud be out next week
-
WG9s
issue seems to have to do with eliminateing a lot of stupidity in the code in old-configure and switch to using moz.configure and dealing with how to find the includes and libraries by using the pkgconfig files is a linux issue
-
frg_away
Nothing much over the beta.
-
tomman
I guess all of my setups but this daily driver will move to .17
-
IanN
frg_away: a small polish :)
-
tomman
I'm happy so far with the nightlies, and can't imagine I would ever have said that
-
tomman
I do still backup my profile :P
-
frg_away
IanN yeah
-
WG9s
polish if you just capitalize the first letter it has a completely different meaning so wonder how you are expected to differentiate if it is first work in a sentence.
-
frg_away
tomman I use them every day and they use mostly only backports so they are not really nightlies. Now and then some snafu creeps in but usually caught fast :)
-
WG9s
unlike mozilla where they had several days in a row with no nightlies because they violated there own rules about what patches should be backed out to fix bustage.
-
WG9s
onlhy crdated bustage for shipable builds an d they failed to back out

The nsIPrefBranch cleanups still seems to cause the most damage but easy fixer. Didn't read about more fallout from my latest js cleanups.

We have an unsubstaiated report form Hardys that MyPhoneExplorer worked with 2.53.17 but not with 2.53.18b1pre but was a drive by so no way to ask what version and from where he added this etc.

Regarding possible Cloudflare loops and avoiding it by setting "network/http.sendOriginHeader" to "1" -- PaleMoon has already done this, see
