weird, I left my session a few hours ago, went to do some errands, and when I came back I found a computer struggling in swap hell
-
tomman
barely managed to SIGTERM SeaMonkey (which was using over 6GB RAM) to recover control
-
tomman
1) wonder who was the serial JavaScript offender that triggered badly the memory allocators, and 2) I really need a SSD :/
-
MattATobin
angular is my guess for one
-
MattATobin
two is.. how much would it cost to SHIP from the US is the real question on that front.. that and time lol
-

tomman: Facebook? Wikipedia? Google webmail? Here SeaMonkey also slowly gobbles up more and more memory but I have 31 GiB RAM + 11 GiB swap and in most cases hitting Ctrl+Q (then click "Save and Quit" and play solitaire for 5 minutes) is enough, I rarely have to kill it (SIGTERM).

tomman
tonymec|away: none of those, can't exactly remember now which pages I had left open there (but IIRC it was 90% Danbooru, 10% airtravel blogs), and I only have 8GB RAM and a rust spinner for swap
-
tomman
and apparently Debian these days becomes REALLY unresponsive when it enters swap hell on a rust spinner :/
-
tonymec|away
tomman: hm, I use neither Danbooru nor airtravel blogs. For my 70th birthday 2½ years ago I got a new Tuxedo desktop and installed openSUSE Tumbleweed on it.
-
tonymec|away
in fact it came with openSUSE Leap, switching over wasn't hard. 6x2 CPUs hesitating between 2.3 and 3.78 GHz according to /proc/cpuinfo.

What should be the value of "network.http.sendOriginHeader" nowadays? At the moment we have "0" but it seems like at least "1" is needed to avoid the cloudflare loop. (Current Firefox has "2").

seamoneky not building with ICU 73.2 buc, dunno if you can fix that now while the mass rebuildd is going
-
buc
GrannyGoose: I know. The reason is NOT icu-73.2 . Some python-3.12 issues. Firefox is not built under Fedora rawhide (f39) too.
-
GrannyGoose
buc yeah i noticed, also Thunderbird
-
buc
I just wait for the successfule build of Firefox (which means that no nore python etc. issues), then try to buid SM in already working environment.
-
GrannyGoose
ok, seems like a good idea coz python3.12 wouldnt be stable right now would it
-
buc
Sure. Esp. 3.12 seems to broking in a bit unpredictable way.
-
buc
I believe Fedora (still) needs Firefox, so it will be fixed anyway :)
-
GrannyGoose
it'd have to be Breaking other Packages also, not just Browsers/email clients that depend on python
-
GrannyGoose
is it also breaking LLVM in F39?
