Pale Moon can fallback to alsa and there has been some other work on different backends.. Check what backend Pale Moon is using the Audio Backend is under the Graphics section there. I betcha it is Alsa cause I believe we never dropped it.

tho pulse works better than alsa across the board in practical experience

My old eyes now actually work best with white background and black standard font.
