i'll be back lil later, gotta run up the street
-
CaptainTobin
as redesigns go.. I don't hate this I just miss the 2009 era icon
-
CaptainTobin
might need a bit more definition..
-
CaptainTobin
but design wise it isn't the worst.. and it could be added to later when design trends change.. the glyph its self and the mail chat and even the featery fire tail is fine .. tho i'd add a bit of pink as a superhighlight on the purple highlight
-
CaptainTobin
it would be so much worse
-
CaptainTobin
speaking of redesigns.. i have a new effect on the BinOC wordmark
-
CaptainTobin
go check it out if it suits you
-
CaptainTobin
suites you?
-
tomman
news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36063943 and of course Hackernews is in love with the new TB logo
-
CaptainTobin
it has potental
-
tomman
> It communicates to new users that this is a currently maintained project, that it has modern features that they expect, that it works on the latest operating system that they might have installed, etc.
-
CaptainTobin
but current design trends won't allow full expression
-
tomman
guys, we need a rebrand, pronto!
-
tomman
pay me $500 for a 5 minute hackjob on Inkscape
-
CaptainTobin
I am a designer.. even shit design aesthteics and choices can be made better without loosing the aim.. if you have the balls to..
-
CaptainTobin
tomman: see my speculative design change.. binoc-wordmark and image81 the rest are older effects

CaptainTobin
tomman: and check the small version on the site i think shit like that is gonna be the next phase of design
-
CaptainTobin
beyond this thunderbird shit
-
CaptainTobin
which is only getting in on gradients coming back into fasion.. i am leapfrogging
-
tomman
you're missing the Apple Icon™
-
CaptainTobin
on what?
-
CaptainTobin
lol
-
CaptainTobin
I am gonna do a whole new icon set with that aestetic but using the glyphs from the icon sets i already have
-
CaptainTobin
but will Mariner and Interlink get them or will I horde all my great advancements for Borealis AppCore
-
CaptainTobin
that is the question tomman
-
CaptainTobin
and should I even care about maintaining current-toolkit style buildability past interlink and mariner
-
njsg
"It communicates to new users that this is a currently maintained project," <-- yeah, I guess for some people change is *just* that, no matter what it changes. a system to rank projects into best to worst
-
ripspin
I haven't had sound on seamonkey for months, so I downloaded the latest, ran it and it was the same, palemoon is fine with sound, I checked about:config, search for 'sound' and all looked good, would appreciate some suggestions
-
tomman
ripspin: what platform/OS?
-
njsg
which audio system?
-
ripspin
Im back, i just restarted seamonkey
-
ripspin
I haven't had sound on seamonkey for months, so I downloaded the latest, ran it and it was the same, palemoon is fine with sound, I checked about:config, search for 'sound' and all looked good, would appreciate some suggestions
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: to repeat the previous questions from others, what platform/OS and which audio system?
-
Tobin
ripspin: this channel has logging so you don't need to repeat yourself dude not to mention scrollback
-
Tobin
ripspin: Pale Moon's audio subsystem isn't identical to SeaMonkey's and certainly isn't now vs the respective origin fork points
-
Tobin
so you cannot use that as a comparison when they aren't using identical means
-
ripspin
ok thanks I didn't know
-
Tobin
IanN_Away: does sm use pulseaudio primarily?
-
Tobin
and what version of cubeb are you at
-
Tobin
stab in the dark but there have been edge cases on windows and linux with cubeb without ALL the pre-req refactoring
-
Tobin
but I would guess you are just missing a dependancy ripspin
-
ripspin
how do i check the audio?
-
IanN_Away
Tobin: yes, pulse
-
ripspin
Im running linux
-
Tobin
ripspin: That gets into linux internals terratory .. is there anything in about:support that looks off..
-
ripspin
I checked with grep of 'sound'
-
IanN_Away
Tobin: 0.5.2 I believe
-
Tobin
audio backend is a value but uxp-class about:support may be different than SM about:support at this point and I don't have seamonkey not-2.49 handy
-
Tobin
ripspin: what distro what version what arch
-
Tobin
and what version of seamonkey?
-
IanN_Away
in about:support it should say under Media what Audio Backend is in use
-
Tobin
UXP has it filed under graphics .. Aura should change that.. or just replace the damn page with stuff that is actually useful in MAH diagnostics :P
-
ripspin
does this look right? media.useAudioChannelAPI; false
-
Tobin
Audio Backend.
-
ripspin
Audio Backend unknown
-
Tobin
well
-
Tobin
that is why you don't have sound
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: what distro?
-
Tobin
now as for why it is unknown..
-
Tobin
heh
-
ripspin
Max Channels 0
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: what distro?
-
ripspin
puppy xenial
-
ripspin
Preferred Sample Rate 44100 is the only thing under media with real data in it
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: does that come with pulseaudio?
-
Tobin
I think he doesn't know how to determine that
-
ripspin
I don;t know
-
Tobin
see
-
IanN_Away
-
IanN_Away
looks like it doesn't, you have to install it
-
CaptainTobin
Pale Moon can fallback to alsa and there has been some other work on different backends.. Check what backend Pale Moon is using the Audio Backend is under the Graphics section there. I betcha it is Alsa cause I believe we never dropped it.
-
CaptainTobin
tho pulse works better than alsa across the board in practical experience
-
CaptainTobin
Just cause it be xul does not mean it be the exact same.. Always remember that ripspin
-
IanN_Away
yes, i've found pulse to be better than alsa in most cases that I can remember
-
CaptainTobin
christ I am gonna have to itemize not only my new stuff in Aura but all the features that came with 52 and were added to UXP cause I should KNOW the actual capabilities of my own damned codebase eh?
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: did you find how to install pulseaudio?
-
CaptainTobin
then compare and contrast that with SM56Evo
-
ripspin
palemoon has: media.decoder-doctor.notifications-allowed;MediaWMFNeeded,MediaWidevineNoWMFNoSilverlight,MediaCannotInitializePulseAudio,MediaCannotPlayNoDecoders,MediaUnsupportedLibavcodec
-
ripspin
No, I don't know how to istall it
-
IanN_Away
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: to find out if it is installed try "apt list pulseaudio"
-
ripspin
It said it installed it
-
ripspin
I don't have apt
-
ripspin
I thin Im gona have to restart SM
-
ripspin
Ill be back
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: according to forums you can use the apulse wrapper
-
IanN_Away
searching for puppy and pulse throws up lots of results on how to get a small dog breathing again...
-
ripspin
Im back
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: have your tried "apulse seamonky"
-
IanN_Away
ripspin: have your tried "apulse seamonkey"
-
ripspin
no I will give it a go
-
ripspin
got sound, but so far I can't stop it, it doesn't respond to the speaker off icon
-
CaptainTobin
the wrapper may not support channel control
-
CaptainTobin
i dunno it is outside my area of vaguely knowing what I am talking about at this point
-
ripspin
the icon changes but the audio continues, even when I stop the video
-
CaptainTobin
sorry
-
IanN_Away
best thing to probably do is to get pulseaudio installed and working, forums for pupplylinux can probably help with that
-
ripspin
Yes, I will do some experiments with the installed pulse audio
-
ripspin
Thanks for you help, at least I have sound, which very nice for a change
-
CaptainTobin
hi frg_away
-
frg_away
CaptainTobin hi
-
CaptainTobin
what's crackin?
-
frg_away
not much here.
-
CaptainTobin
i been designing for stage 2 of mah plan
-
CaptainTobin
see notice if it suits you
-
CaptainTobin
or suites you
-
CaptainTobin
lol
-
frg_away
My old eyes now actually work best with white background and black standard font.
-
CaptainTobin
a shame
-
CaptainTobin
frg_away: when i futz some basic mobile in LATER i will do a light mode
-
CaptainTobin
but it will still be same font and metrics
-
CaptainTobin
of course mobile will just be basically collapsing the menu to an icon and putting sidebar crap at the bottom
-
CaptainTobin
at a fixed width
-
CaptainTobin
that's about as much mobile as i can muster
-
frg_away
computer monitor is still ok mostly but paper and small letters are becoming a problem sometimes. Suspect eye doctors will make a fortune in the next 20 years when the current generation grows older :)
-
CaptainTobin
eventually
-
» hrosik renewed ircbot's certificate for web interface
-
frg_away
hrosik thanks for still providing the service
-
hrosik
no problem :)
-
hrosik
I'm just not maintaining it very actively...
-
hrosik
IOW: the least I can do, for those who have been keeping SM alive for so long
