JesusGod-Pope666
Could that be done? Make multiple Bak saving points? like 01.Bak 02.bak and so forth.... Maybe a date put on them as well for the last closing save.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
Like sessionstore01-2022Nov06.bak
-
JesusGod-Pope666
sessionstore02-2022Nov07.bak
-
JesusGod-Pope666
Maybe time with it as well.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
sessionstore02-2022Nov07-11:20:54.bak
-
JesusGod-Pope666
or something of that nature.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
And have 10 backups in total... When it gets to 10, let it return to 01 or 00, whatever number suits you.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
At least it would make on able to go back, even if one have cleaned some of the backups. usually you have sorted out you have an issue before starting up the browser 10 times :)
-
JesusGod-Pope666
Like the history on tabs... just have a history on all Tabs feature! :)
-
JesusGod-Pope666
That would be nice
-
JesusGod-Pope666
I guess there are different ways to do it really.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
3 ways for now, I can see it could be incorperated.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
But maybe the easiest is using what you already have programmed and just make multiple save point and not only one.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
Just make it make more save point files then one, and we should at least be so far....
-
JesusGod-Pope666
It's better then nothing!
-
JesusGod-Pope666
much better then nothing! ;)
-
JesusGod-Pope666
hmm still living... I think I ahve opened 400 tabs.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
very sad... I had a lot of tabs I needed....
-
JesusGod-Pope666
I guess I can go through all of the tabs I had opened... the clicking game of the Devil.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
A color code for a Tab that makes sounds would also be nice by the way.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
And if you have more of the same, to light up with a color code as well.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
when passsing it.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
passing it.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
would be helpfl.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
helpful.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
so far so good
-
JesusGod-Pope666
You know.... XMPP would be a nice thing so the text would not be gone
-
JesusGod-Pope666
Works very well I think.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
thats really the bad thing about IRC, is that you cannot see the text before you enter.
-
tomman
someone forgot how client software works?
-
CaptainTobin
tomman: he forgot how brains work.
-
CaptainTobin
he is obviously a troll or really really stupid no actual techie would advocate for completely portable non-bound software citing traditional sanity then go on a bout how IRC is terrible
-
CaptainTobin
either way not worth the time we already expended
-
frg_Away
Guys let it rest or use a private chat room. Kindergarten time is over!
-
CaptainTobin
frg_Away: as soon as you give me th 25 letters and numbers of the enlish alphabet in order!
-
CaptainTobin
seriously tho
-
CaptainTobin
understood
-
CaptainTobin
how goes it frg_Away
-
CaptainTobin
I am chilly so i am building the codebase to warm up
-
frg_Away
swamped with real life and SeaMonkey life stuff. Might take a bottle of beer later and take the evening off watching a bad movie or two.
-
CaptainTobin
frg_Away: when I started altering moz.build to serve my needs I think I will change moz.build to Makefile.ni (to go along side Makefile.in the few there are) and do include build files as whatever.km vs whatever.mk
-
frg_Away
Personally I would advise against it. You end up with a build system as cryptic as the one from mozilla and only one man understanding it.
-
CaptainTobin
frg_Away: the build system has been one of the primary focuses in my journey for eight years now .. it is mine to command!
-
CaptainTobin
I eventually want to replace the build system tho.. with either a pure updated autohell or something else but this fucked up mixture of 20 years ago and last week .. that is fine for the codebase but not the thing that builds the codebase
-
CaptainTobin
there are just too many languages involved.. shell m4 perl python gyp and it keeps going
-
CaptainTobin
too many languages too many dependancies JUST TO SCRIPT THE BUILD PROCESS
-
CaptainTobin
but mozbuild is fairly mature now the key target is still mozconfigure as an unmaintainable mess
-
CaptainTobin
ac configure i understand.
-
CaptainTobin
mostly does anyone ever fully understand fuckin m4
-
CaptainTobin
mozbuild advancements i have looked into involve more stupidity and python 3
-
CaptainTobin
or is that redundant
-
CaptainTobin
so i see no reason not to do as i see fit with it
-
frg_Away
yeah I thought about ripping out stuff but I think the would be a lifetime journey with no end in sight. So just kicked mobile and taskcluster and telemetry whenever I find the time.
-
CaptainTobin
well each journey is different
-
CaptainTobin
btw tho it won't be much practical direct help.. here is literally a makefile refresher course from my gre-packager work lol
xr.binaryoutcast.com/aura-central/source/runtime/packager/base.mk
-
CaptainTobin
-
CaptainTobin
-
CaptainTobin
designed to be included in a built up state
-
CaptainTobin
the base.. then our packaging or do your own.. our installer or do your own
-
CaptainTobin
-
CaptainTobin
heh
-
CaptainTobin
i eliminated a bunch of mozredundancy tho you still rely on it
-
CaptainTobin
but still there ARE makefiles still around and a good refreshing simple example that isn't pseudo-code is nice to have and luckily i ended up with one to reference
-
CaptainTobin
also frg_Away I thought of that too which is why I been doing passes on the build files to standardize order and format and clean them up
-
CaptainTobin
many are virtually the same file that was script converted in 2014
-
CaptainTobin
-
CaptainTobin
that is a really nice moz.build file
-
CaptainTobin
and typical of most nothing super complicated and cleaner than when I found it
-
CaptainTobin
I'm gonna drop support for compressing jar files at least as far as omnijar goes..
-
hardys
WG9s: server www.wg9s.com seems down for a few hours now :(
-
frg_Away
hardys Bill is out of town. I bet he will fix it fast when he is back.
-
hardys
I know, but i wanted to let him know, if he is listening
-
hardys
Thanks anyway
-
frg_Away
hardy thanks for the heads-up
-
hardys
no problem schönen Filmabend :)
-
tonymec|away
IanN_Away: frg_Away : down for everyone or just me? "Connection refused when attempting to contact www.wg9s.com"
-
frg_Away
hi for everyone
-
frg_Away
see log
-
tonymec|away
frg_Away: er, sorry, where is the log? Not mentioned in the channel title.
-
frg_Away
-
frg_Away
Also on the website in supports.
-
tonymec|away
frg_Away: tx, let's see...
-
tonymec|away
I must be cross-eyed, it was just a few inches above the bottom. Too bad it happens only when Bill is away.
-
frg_Away
tonymec|away how is life?
-
tonymec|away
frg_Away: not too bad. Happily I have a raincoat.
-
frg_Away
yeah here too. just a bit too busy :)
-
tonymec|away

Mozinet[m]
Hi! I just want to report that the date of the last post about macOS 13 is: "February 4, 2023".
-
frg_Away
clumsy fingers... Thanks will fix.
-
Mozinet[m]
* date of [the last, * macOS 13](
seamonkey-project.org/news#2022-11-96) is:
-
tomman
-
tomman
(the console has nothing particularly interesting, aside of "TypeError: k(...) is undefined" and a caught "TypeError: t.getConsent is not a function")
-
tomman
the page is briefly readable for a few seconds until the whole website "crashes" with a White Screen of Death: "Application error: a client-side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information)."
-
tomman
ah no, it's not React but... Next.js
-
tomman
whatever, NEXT!
-
tomman
I am not supposed to read your website because I'm not able to parse your toxic dump of JS framework crapola, WHY.
-
frg_Away
ok here wiht 2.53.16b1 pre and only the site allowed in NoScript
ibb.co/sPQ2dnn
-
njsg
seems readable here with nothing allowed :-D
-
tomman
The fact those frame-not-work "lolcoders" have never heard about graceful degradation and "you don't crash websites" is just sad
-
njsg
appending ?amp=1 gives something that needs css hacking, I think, and no idea if that won't have the script issue too
-
tomman
njsg: OK, that works indeed
-
njsg
tomman: or worse. I mean, see cloudflare, which did do gracefulish degradation, relying on features only some browsers would have
-
tomman
AMP is terrible for many other reasons, but wow, nice workaround
-
njsg
tomman: amphtml often shows under More in the site navigation bar, btw
-
tomman
the bar I can't use because the whole site crashes with a WSoD even before I'm able to scroll down?
-
tomman
and when it crashes, it DELETES the entire content of the document from the DOM tree, instead of just overlaying the error message
-
tomman
(similar to Dischorse sabotaging itself if it detects a browser that doesn't meet The Vision™)
-
frg_Away
news item date on website fixed. Thanks for reporting.
-
njsg
re: cloudflare, it seems the logic was to change to simpler (to the browser) alternate captchas as each step in the ladder failed owing to lack of support. except the transaction between captchas required Origin:...
-
njsg
tomman: and me thinking the only annoying thing in discourse was not being scrollable...
-
njsg
tomman: hm, I see a few 502 from cloudflare in js fetches
-
njsg
not related, it seems. goes away with a chrome UA, but the error remains
-
tomman
Clownflare has been acting all weird here this afternoon
-
tomman
a bunch of 502 errors and connection delays
-
njsg
you'll have to be more specific, this is cloudflare we are talking about...
-
tomman
dunno if it is some regional CDN node acting weird, but I've been experiencing that a few times in the last weeks
-
tomman
I'm already used to my ISP being junk so I can't really tell
-
njsg
I saw some of these 502 now, but I haven't been actively looking at interactions with cloudflare servers lately
-
CaptainTobin
IanN: think back to the old old days.. did mozilla prefer more smaller components or larger fewer components
-
IanN
CaptainTobin: what day of the week was it?
-
CaptainTobin
uhh.. tuesday
-
IanN
CaptainTobin: smaller if it had the letter b in and larger if it had the letter p in
-
CaptainTobin
i see
-
CaptainTobin
you're a funny guy
-
CaptainTobin
also likely not far off
-
IanN
CaptainTobin: that is probably attributing too much logic to the decision making process
-
CaptainTobin
I wonder how many mozilla employees post-2013 slept under THEIR desk out of dedication?
-
CaptainTobin
well IanN with all your expereince.. do you think smaller xpcom factories are better vs something like the docshell or toolkit factory?
-
CaptainTobin
fewer and larger
-
CaptainTobin
ignoring for a moment there are still crazies who LIKE xpcom lol
-
IanN
which option gives more understandable code?
-
IanN
and does it make any difference to overall size
-
CaptainTobin
I would honestly say more targeted factories are better and easier to follow than something like the main mailnews xpcom component you know one with a really old free the lizard era warning about death and such?
-
IanN
probably, though freeing the lizard can be fun...
-
IanN
anyway, time to get some supper, bbl
-
CaptainTobin
-
CaptainTobin
that is my question
-
CaptainTobin
easier to understand.. that is obvious many smaller targeted factories for xpcom components is superior.. tho more components means defining more components so binary size and ram might increase SLIGHTLY but i could hardly think it would be more than a few megs.. in an era where a single site can OOM yeah not as conserning as it was in 2009
-
hardys
www.wg9s.com is up again :)
