anyone know off hand if atbn is doing json or rdf update manifests?
-
tomman

njsg
marc.merlins.org/htmlearn/netscape/tables.html "The only consolation is that, someday, the spec will become the standard and stop changing."
-
tomman
Isn't "MV3" the spec that threatens to kill adblockers because Chrome has a vested interest into it?
-
tomman
-
tomman
> The only consolation is that, someday, the spec will become the standard and stop changing.
-
tomman
hello from the future! It won't
-
tomman
also, in the futures tables have been deemed unsexy, old, beige and boring, you're supposed to draw pixels direct into a canvas powered by some code made into one of the gazillon programing languages out there
-
tomman
Oh, in the future we no longer use "specs", we do what some big corporation says
-
njsg
but we still slap the word "spec" on them so that we can pretend this is as good as before
-
Tobin
if mozilla does the blocking part of webex manifest 3 then they can't even consider thinking about imagining to pretend they are for anyone but Google
-
Tobin
that goes for every other chrome clone too
-
frg_Away
as far as I know mozilla said they keep the blocking webrequest. We will see if this still stands when the next google finance round is due soon.
-
Tobin
mozilla .. and the eff .. and most of w3c were against eme..
-
Tobin
theoretically
-
Tobin
of course WE know that EME is when the w3c basically lost any pretense of being anything more than a hollowed out husk serving google working groups like whatwg
-
tomman
But normies wanted its Netflixes and Disneys and HBOs, so here we are
-
tomman
(I still insist that video does NOT belong to the realm of a web browser, but of a MEDIA PLAYER, but what do I know, I'm a dinosaur, strike that meteor on me ASAP)
-
Tobin
and we know adobe was not serious they just had to make a showing cause they could easily rip out and isolate the flash drm for a few years before just letting google have its way and be the ONLY cdm period
-
Tobin
tomman: silverlight STILL worked with netflix up untill a year ago
-
Tobin
it wasn't easy to always trigger but it worked
-
Tobin
a unique ua combo
-
tomman
do not care, I won't be giving a single cent to Netflix until they let me pay to watch stuff on VLC or mpv, but that's not happening ever because MUH PIRACY
-
tomman
(I would be fine with a binary blob plugin for my favorite media player, but nooooope, Hollywood won't let that happen ever because TRILLION DOLLARS LOST)
-
Tobin
ever since netflix went into producing softcore child pronography AND removed all their actually thought provoking docus .. basically when they split the dvd rental from the streaming is when netflix died
-
tomman
Some streaming places either have no DRM or do DRM through sercurity via obscurity, so I can pay them and pipe the links through yt-dl to mpv, but not Netflix or any of the big Hollyweird ones
-
Tobin
i dunno what that company is that has the logo and domain but that ain't the same people who bent over backwards for you to make shit right when doing dvd shit and was right there to solve issues when streaming first happened.
-
tomman
although since Clownflare started meddling with our streams, last time I tried to watch Crunchyroll that way I ended ragequitting in disgust because I was supposed to dump Clownflare cookies and whatnot
-
Tobin
cloudflare is one major element among others including EMCA's Javascript that will kill us all
-
tomman
then there are those countless cable-only channels with streaming content only available through a cable account, and with no support on yt-dl(p) at all because no dev lives in any of those countries :/
-
Tobin
literally weaponizing content delivery has global implications behind regular oppression of the people.. it can mean nuclear war
-
tomman
Dear Media Industry: here is a credit card, let me pay for the media I want in the format I want, and I promise I'll let the bank emboss your name into my cards!
-
tomman
no deal? Fine, can survive without your media anyway, I'm too old even for piracy
-
Tobin
then again what doesn't these days.. i specifically said i didn't want to be born and grow up in a time where a nuclear threat was more than a "yeah that can happen maybe" point of attention
-
Tobin
that is why I was born in 85
-
Tobin
this bullshit belongs in the 70s
-
Tobin
not 2020s
-
Tobin
you believe that tomman
-
Tobin
lol
-
WG9s
Tobin: You are a decade off fear of nuclear war beolngs in the 1960s
-
Tobin
yeah but living with it as a matter of course was 70s
-
Tobin
in any event
-
Tobin
time is fluid anyway .. gender is not.
-
Tobin
seriously tho how are you WG9s
-
Tobin
poor IanN_Away
-
Tobin
kicked for being away
-
Tobin
yes frg_Away I agree, this is all clearly tomman's fault
-
Tobin
... doesn't work as well when you remember this channel is logged
-
tomman
weird, did my DSL died again?
-
Tobin
not bad for a template retrofit hackjob
interlink-addons.binaryoutcast.com
-
Tobin
eh tomman
-
Tobin
least i finally get to see the design with CONTENT ahead of the main site
-
tomman
brb, restarting junk here~
-
tomman
can't believe half the RAM on my routerbox is eaten by BIND and a 8MB junk domain blacklist
-
tomman
anyone here with experience on DNS servers other than BIND?
-
frg_Away
tomman sounds like a job for a pi-hole
-
Tobin
now to get the main site going enough to switch over and then finish up for this last release of the 5.0 series.. 5.1 is next for me!
