so while it seems obvious.. because udn describes it as merely a string.. the xul windowtype attr having colons .. casing.. etc are all arbitrary right? The attr doesn't ACTUALLY do anything more than match one string vs another

NewTobinParadigm I think yes correct. You can do "Donald:Bunny" and it would work. There are some semistanndard types like "navigator:browser" but that is it.
