01:49:20 oh, are we ranting against HTTPS? 01:49:43 let me introduce the "I live in a commie hellhole", and "HTTPS won't help me because the 99% still uses Facebook" 01:50:13 but yeah, OAuth is garbage 01:50:29 you'll pry out my passwords from my cold dead fingers~ 01:51:12 (don't get me started with 2FA; I'm a dinosaur) 02:47:16 double your plesure double your fun with double mint authentication 02:47:19 i guess tomman 02:48:10 reminds me of this: http://n-gate.com/software/2017/07/12/0/ 02:55:25 also: reminder that if you buy any random KaiOS phone right now, chances are you can't visit anything using Let's Encrypt (that is, half the Internet... including a few banks!) because of an expired DST Root X3 cert 02:58:31 the only fix is to root the phone (because of course your OEM won't be releasing an update anytime soon), if you can (a few handsets are not rootable yet), and then using NSS stuff to manually inject the new roots into phone's cert9.db 02:59:05 yes, I've met banks using Let's Encrypt, including a couple of government-owned ones here 02:59:23 Let's Encrypt is a cancer 02:59:36 it basically makes certs worthless 02:59:41 and if it is worthless and everywhere 02:59:45 what is the fuckin point 03:00:00 getting a cert is supposed to MEAN something 03:00:44 and if you use a proxy then your are paying for literal man in the middle bullshit that could be abused at any time 03:01:06 assuming half the VPN services already aren't 24/7 honeypots anyway like tor exit nodes 03:02:41 so worthless certs that anyone can get .. eroding legit CAs and automating everything .. and Google being or becoming a CA .. oh and d'oh .. it all literally breaks how the internet works and makes it antithetical to what it was intended to be.. side from a military comm network 03:02:44 that is 03:02:46 also, not everybody can afford a VPN 03:03:49 tomman: so what you are saying is that they are racist and sexist as well as transphobic because you have to pay for them and not everyone has money expecially minorities, women, and alphabet soup+ 03:04:06 I SO want that to be spread! 03:04:28 and yet noone cares about people like me that live in actual communist countries mostly barred from the global economy 03:05:02 so even if I could afford it, there is (almost) no legal way to give money to a VPN for anyone in Soviet Venezuela 03:05:06 because communism can't happen in america.. there is no communist plots here.. CNN, MSNBC, CBS, and 3/4ths of Fox News said so 03:05:35 we are devided simply by racists sexist transphobic nazi white supremesists 03:05:37 (and yet Netflix is popular here... go figure) 03:05:38 didn't you know 03:06:19 I liked Netflix when I could get shit on DVD or when streaming they had shows I liked and also a great selection of docus that were interesting and informative 03:06:33 now it is just woke politics and pedophilla 03:06:52 I'm glad I wiped TV out of my life, also I don't do streaming services unless I can pipe them to an actual media player (say: VLC, mpv) 03:07:24 of course DRM means they won't be getting a cent off my pockets (assuming I could somehow get an international CC, which are unobtanium here) 03:08:05 I prefer to read, thanks 03:08:30 sadly, kids these days hate reading, and half of Internet these days are YT videos of content that should be blogposts instead 03:08:31 DRM .. like how widevine is the only DRM that anyone can impliment in their apps and devices with a license from google who won't even respond to you except if you have widevine already there 03:08:43 oauth2 .. is DRM 03:09:00 That's IT! 03:09:05 OAUTH2 IS DRM 03:09:08 LITERAL DRM 03:09:19 there you go 03:09:20 nothing triggers me more than looking for, say, a tutorial/howto/whatever, and the ONE AND ONLY RESULT... is a YT video 03:09:42 no, I'm not watching videos, thanks 03:10:01 once again, I'm a dinosaur 03:10:19 I only watch youtube videos from a few creators and that's it.. the rest of the stuff is on my hard drive and i have had it for years 03:10:58 and hell that number of creators has diminished to ONLY a few because the content turned to shit 03:11:02 I've watched exactly ONE YT video this year 03:11:26 (a PV for some Touhou arrange, and I'm surprised Japanese creators actually use YT rather than Nico Nico Douga these days) 03:11:27 clickbate adderal takers are the only valid demographic don't you know 03:11:35 bait* 03:11:44 I don't watch whatever people call these days "youtubers" 03:12:05 also: Flashblock is a godsend, especially after the death of Flash 03:12:57 (it can also block HTML5 video, which is awesome, and I'm sticking to my modded version 'till the cold death of the universe... or until my DSL dies again, whatever happens first) 03:13:56 so I will check server preferences if they have gmail or google in them, send up a prompt, if ok then set pref, open system browser to release notes explaining, if cancel prompt next startup 03:14:03 scheduled release no oauth2 03:14:13 i already have it ifdef'd in mailnews core 03:14:47 simple as that 03:15:11 why am i waiting till tomorrow.. because i ran out of time today deciding what form the notification will take 03:15:35 from a full xul window to alert box to prompt dialog 04:17:42 tomman: The selection of active forums for general discussion of any topic is a mixed bag. Either you have large and active ones that themselves are a mixed bag, or small and dead ones. There are only a small handful of medium sized one with quality discussions. 04:18:17 Sadly social media ruined my generation's attention span :/ 08:11:52 tomman: "one and only result"? how do you do that? :-) 08:12:10 * njsg is tired of google returning a pile of clearly unrelated stuff 08:12:24 funnily, I think sometimes I do get "one and only result". Not often, though. 10:04:12 hi i am testing ChatZilla from a Puppylinux seamonkey 2.53 21:04:53 Hi, I have run into a problem: the html file looks ok in SeaMonkey and it looks good when drag drop the file on Safari. But when I upload the file to the server and access it with Safari one of the picture does not show. I tried jpg, jpeg, png with the same result. Besides Safari I also tried Chrome and Firefox - same result.
