Maximalistpardon me, but is seamonkey good for practical internet use?
-
frg_AwayMaximalist. Just try it. Has a bunch of problems with mainstream websites which are worked on but they change "standards" so fast that it is an uphill battle. For mail and lots of other sites no problem. So you need a second browser for some sites but that is true to lesser degree for Firefox these days too.

tommanSomeone wants some of my modded SM extensions, but noticed I no longer have the original XPIs, for whatever reason
-
tommanand for some of my already installed extensions, there is no .XPI under $PROFILE/extensions/, but rather unpacked folders
-
tommanshould I want to redist those, it's enough with packing the contents of said folder into a .XPI?
-
therubetomman: (without actually checking) that sounds good. actually you might just want to zip them up instead of "xpi". (does the unpacked directory have install.rdf [or whatever it is?]) what you might do is zip them up, create a new Profile, unzip them, & see if that profile can find & work with it.
-
tommanOK, packing those folders into .XPIs actually works (yes, there are install.rdf on the unpacked folders)
-
tommanmust be .XPI, as trying to open the .ZIPs on SM will just prompt to download them
-
frg_Awaytomman xpi is just zip. 7zip is used with specific options but I found that just zipping and renaming them to xpi works.
-
tommanthat was also a nice reminder to get backups of my addons should I ever want to start from scratch with a totally clean profile

Maximalistfrg_Away: thank you
