Hello: Just to note. Yesterday I installed the build for a k6-processor on the computer on which I would like to use the current Seamonkey version. Regrettably it failed, in contrast to the build of version 2.53.1 see
hiereth.de/programm/2007sm.html in July 2020
-
mlh85386
Now I'm about to check whether I should have set the compiler flags specifying this processor as well for some of the necessary additional packages.
-
mlh85386
grep for SSE2 says, libwebp, nasm and nss contain this string. Presumably they use this set of instructions
-
WG9s
mlh85386: being language deprived on reading your log I do my builds using clang. building SeaMonkey using modern versions of gcc fails for me.
-
frg_Away
mlh85386 The K6 is ancient. I would just retire it. An early Core2Duo is still usable but not this one.
-
mlh85386
frg_away: I know that the processor k6 is old. Nevertheless the computer so far is OK for me
-

I have a few old Thinkpads T20 to T30 from this time I still need for eprom and other chip burning but for web they are just mehhh... As I usally say with web browsing in these cases self torture :)
-
mlh85386
wg9s: I was able to build Seamonkey 2.53.1 with gcc. And I think the current problem is related to the code to be compiled.
-
mlh85386
frg_away: I hope I'm free to torture myself :-)
-
frg_Away
mlh85386 still a free world :)
-
therube
heh.
-
therube
in about:config, it must be using a case sensitive sort.
-
therube
so sorted by Name, Feeds.logging.console displays before accessibility.AOM.enabled
-

mlh85386 might help to disable av1 webp and rust-simd.
-
mlh85386
frg_away: for libwebp (=which is the webp you mention i assume) and nasm i found configuration options to disable the SSE2 instructions set. Not so for nss. But maybe it is not important there.
-
mlh85386
av1 and rust-simd are not known to me. On what systems are they and who installs them?
-
frg_Away
both used for video decoding / multimedia. Backports after 2.53.1
-
frg_Away
ac_add_options --disable-rust-simd
-
frg_Away
ac_add_options --disable-av1
-
mlh85386
frg_away: Thanks a lot. I'm just about to edit the mozconfig file
-
mlh85386
frg_away: I need to leave. Build is running.

tomman
are we building for retroboxes here?
-
tomman
I want a plain vanilla i386 build
-
tomman
...but first, where do I find a i386DX that can take so much RAM for a web browser?
-
tomman
...but then, Javascript is not healthy at all for vintage retroboxes :/

hi all
-
whoever233232
I have a problem with some links opening in a new tab instead of a new window
-
frg_Away
whoever233232 change your 123456 password. Entered in the clear here.
-
whoever233232
doesn't really matter, but if that isn't actually me or I don't get logged on I can't anyway
-
whoever233232
I don't know for sure that is me
-
whoever233232
I usually use mirc but I got something wrong I guess and it couldn't find this place
-
frg_Away
whoever233232 Lots of options for tab and new window. Not every combination works always and there arer still some problems left. Best to describe you problem including an url step by step.
-
whoever233232
well it's using the program nzbget, if I have seamonkey open, it always opens a tab instead of a window
-
whoever233232
O
-
whoever233232
I'm just not a fan of tabs, much prefer windows
-
IanN_Away
In preferences > Browser > Link Behavior make sure you have the 3rd option selected for all the groupings
-
whoever233232
oh duh !
-
whoever233232
lol
-
whoever233232
thank you IanN
-
whoever233232
now I feel foolish
-
whoever233232
thanks for the help
-
whoever233232

they did it again - GitLab is not usable again with SM 253.9.1 even with Polyfill 1.28 installed - go to SM project on GitLab and get the feeling
-
frg_Away
Probable another web components update for better emoji support.
-
guest
could you reproduce it ?
-
frg_Away
SyntaxError: invalid identity escape in regular expression main.c324c98d.chunk.js:44:110449
-
frg_Away
I didn't want to add anything more to 2.53.10 but the new regexp engines should add up in one off the next versions. Hopefully 2.53.11 but want to add some more groundwork stuff to it first.
-

I take the opportunity do say "thank you" for all your work to update SM
-
frg_Away
Not me alone. I am just the regular "backporter" lately :) Wish I had more time to fix suite stuff. But if I fix suite stuff rest falls behind.
-
frg_Away
Fun facts I was right about gitlab. Great that they fix what is important :)

First class Emoji support will help with the ipo: dumb website for dumb people. I see a winner!
-
tomman
where is my megamillion$ IPO?
-
tomman
emojis are a solid business line!
-
tomman
now GitLab is a Emoji Delivery Network... with bits and pieces of source code hosting duct-taped together
-
frg_Away
As it goes second winner is first looser and gitlab is second :) As long as command line access works they can do what they want. We basically use them only for hosting the sources and not for anything else. Even github is more usable right now.
-
tomman
don't worry
-
tomman
the JavaScript Frat Boys will soon rewrite Git on their beloved JS
-
tomman
add more bells and whistles
-
tomman
of course, add emojis and politically-correct commandline arguments
-
tomman
and will require Node, Electron, and a Apple device somewhere in the line just to perform a "git pull"
-
tomman
and of course, it will be adopted like pancakes
-
tomman
...oh, I forgot the Dockers and Kubernetes
-

Don't forget 2 factor auth using mandatory gmail
-
WG9s_
just run off 2 factor auth the email where they turned it on made it sound mandatory. you can just turn it off.
-
WG9s_
they turned it on for everyone but you can tun it off olnly way i can get my buiod sucdess faioure things and fuzz warnings on builds and msvc update emails to be able to be sent
-
frg_Away
WG9s_ I know whas meant for the future gitlab update.
-
tomman
they should rename themselves to GiggityHub and GiggityLab already
-
WG9s_
gmail is not mandating 2-factor auth they just turned it on for everyone, but you can turn it off
-
tomman
I haven't been forced... yet!
-
tomman
but of course, it's Google
-
tomman
they will force everybody in due time
-
frg_Away
I just wish 2 factor using a chipcard would be easier to set up and usable out of the box in a vm. Security wise it would be way better but I refuste to use an app and smartphone for this. And email or sms 2 factor and not much to write home about.
-
WG9s_
frg_Away: no issue is becuase my smatphone is an iphone it does not seem to sant to use that wants me to use one of m android tablets that I don;t always have with me.
-
WG9s_
also can not figure out how to be able to use sendmail from my linux server to forward mail via my gmail unless i turn of 2 factor bull-shit
-
WG9s_
the latter is why my text alerts all stopped working
