Since 2.53.9, no more "Unresponsive script" dialog appears (after about 10 sec of 100% cpu) on urls like
dw.com/de/spaniens-erster-lockdown-war-verfassungswidrig/a-58270280 . The same for 2.53.9.1 . So now no any chances other than to kill the program. Any plans for this regression?

tomman
autoupdater now works, it seems pieces are falling on their respective places at this hour~
-
ewong
tomman: updated to 2.53.9.1?
-
tomman
ewong: we'll see after the restart
-
tomman
ewong: update successful to 2.53.9.1 here~
-
tomman
I guess the homepage hasn't been updated yet
-
ewong
tomman: doing that right now
-
GrannyGoose
topic should be updated
-
frg_Away
buc looks like a race condition. Not your usual script warning. 2.57 affected too.
-
tomman
...wait, Chatzilla switched from emoticon images to colored emojis to... black and white emojis?!
-
tomman
<2.53.8: images
-
tomman
2.53.8~2.53.9: colorful emojis
-
tomman
2.53.9.1: monochrome emojis
-
tomman
not that I care, but what's going on?
-
tomman
I get colored emojis if I switch to serif font
-
tomman
switching to "sans-serif", "helvetica", or "arial" (my current setup) now fallbacks to monochrome emojis since 2.53.9.1
-
tomman
...odd
-
tomman
(in 2.53.9, "arial" gave me colorful faces)
-
frg_Away
Hmm :)
-
WG9s_
and wh7 would the fot have anyting to do with colr exactly?
-
WG9s_
color

JesusGod-Pope666
Hey Guys
-
frg_Away
tomman Color here with sans-serif and Arial. 2.53.9.1 switched default to sans-serif for better readability in mail.
-
JesusGod-Pope666
Just fixing my website IRC, so just around :)
-
WG9s_
trying again, why would the font have anything to do with color?
-
tomman
I only get color with serif
-
frg_Away
tomman which os ?
-
tomman
frg_Away: Debian (old)stable, aka Debian 10
-
tomman
(haven't moved yet to Debian 11 on this machine, but Soon™)
-
tomman
can test on Debian 11 if you want
-
frg_Away
tomman then it is the font there.
-
frg_Away
Now uses stock unicode icons
-
therube
thanks for 2.53.9.1 :-)
-
frg_Away
Switch back to serif and you have the old behavior. See
bug 1727982. pref changes only and you can switch them back if it bothers you.
-
tomman
2.53.9 on Debian 11 shows color emojis with Arial too
-
tomman
now updating that to .1
-
RUBEN7
testing :-)
-
RUBEN7
testing :)
-
tomman
Hmmm, got something curious
-
tomman
test :) :( :/ :D
-
tomman
sad face IS colorful
-
tomman
all other faces are monochrome
-
tomman
(same behavior on Debian 11 after the update to 2.53.9.1, too)
-
tomman
let's try messing with the prefs then
-
tomman
yup, "font.default.x-western" does the trick
-
therube
between old & new cZ, emoji's are certainly different,
i.postimg.cc/Rh9jBpx9/c-Z-emoiji-s.png
-
tomman
switch that back to serif, and you'll get colored emojis
-
therube
i would have never guessed the smile was a smile in current cZ
-
therube
unable to get b&w on my end, Win7
-
tomman
old cZ used actual pictures, not Unicode fun
-
tomman
IIRC the switch to Unicode emojis began with 2.53.8 or .9, can't remember
-
tomman
frg_Away: thanks for the tip there
-
tomman
Arial has no emojis (or Unicode coverage in general, really), so I guess the emojis indeed comes from whatever defaults your OS have
-
tomman
and controlled by the default pref, am I right?
-
tomman
switching the default for x-western forces the OS to lookup for emojis elsewhere, and I guess I get blessed with the colorful emoji lottery
-
tomman
very interesting behavior
-
frg_Away
Yeah it is a bit of voodoo. I already put tons of fixes in but more to come. twemoji is shipped in the last version but seem not to be used here.
-
frg_Away
-
tomman
ouch, that page slows down SM heavily while it loads!
-
tomman
life was easier when "emoji" was something that only existed on Japanese cellphones...
-
frg_Away
I liked the old icons better but now we can support new ones without starting a drawing contest and shipping them.
