Nothing new from me. Fixed a website typo but was really busy with other things SeaMonkey and life.
-
IanN
freenode switched to SASL only, so looks like another set of users have been removed from there
-
frg
Yes not even good for testing now.
-
IanN
Status of the SeaMonkey Infrastructure
-
frg
Updating the Windows builder right now for 2.53.9b1. I donÄt think aynthing else from me. ewong is working on the crash reporter. Deadline has been extended one last time.
-
IanN
deadline for both SM and TB is now 31st October
-
IanN
The SM .hu domain transfer is almost completed now
-
frg
We discussed using clang 11 for macOS builds but clang 11 dislikes CentOS 7 (needs later glibc) so need to wait.
-
» tonymec has switched off SASL, it was popping up a password popup at every connect or reconnect. /ns identify is better behaved and (with /ns rather than /msg nickserv) doesn't display the password. Of course it can be found if you know where too look but that applies to password manager too and I'm the only user of this PC.
-
IanN
tonymec: latest builds from Bill should have fixed that issue
-
IanN
tonymec: passwords are now stored against username rather than nickname
-
IanN
tonymec: and against network rather than server
-
tonymec
IanN: fixed? they haven't. I'm using them and it got worse since last meeting a fortnight ago.
-
frg
Unrelated: I am having a hard time testing sasl and stored passwords so if it works let us know for the patch review.
-
IanN
tonymec: I will need steps on how to reproduce your current issue. The testing I've been doing with the current patch only prompted the once
-
tonymec
This has been happening for some time but I never got around to mention it: after some time, especially on Facebook, memory use increses beyond limit (12 GB and more), Sm momopolizes the time of one of my CPU cores, and becomes sluggish (if I type faster than 1 keystroke every 2 or 3 seconds it loses up to half of them). If Facebook is the culprit I don't know which part of it is.
-
frg
Also make sure the old stored passwords are gone. Not sure if this could confuse the code but it looked ok to me.
-
tonymec
IanN: well, here it asks for a PW every time, even when reconnecting after the server detected a timeout, so I've disabled it. That's OK by me.
-
frg
tonsmec facebook is garbage. 2.53.9 should have a fix for image memory allocation but there might be a bad script on the page.
-
tonymec
frg: yeah, I guess there's a script somewhere with a never-ending loop. Only workaround I've found is restart SeaMonkey.
-
frg
-
tonymec
frg: ah, interesting. What is ffmpeg?
-
IanN
tonymec: so in my password manager I have an entry for ircs://libera.chat/ (sasl) and ircs://libera.chat/ (nick)
-
tonymec
IanN: hm.
-
IanN
tonymec: for SASL it automatically takes the password from password manager
-
IanN
tonymec: for non-SASL I have use /identify and again it takes the password from password manager
-
WaltS48
frg: "FFmpeg is a free and open-source software project consisting of a large suite of libraries and programs for handling video, audio, and other multimedia files and streams."
-
IanN
tonymec: if I put /identify into Auto-perform it then automatically takes the password from password manager again
-
tonymec
IanN: with SASL disabled I have a server startup line under "Lists" for libera: "/ns identify <password>" and it takes it from there.
-
frg
There are other bugs too not just this one. Maybe we can continue and move the bug hunting to after the meeting.
-
tonymec
frg: OK

IanN
Status of the SeaMonkey Source Tree

frg
All building I think. 2.53 is at 2.53.10b1 pre now.
-
IanN
and we're on rust 1.54 for 2.53.x
-
IanN
(I think)

Release Train
-
frg
Just installed on the Windows builder. Lets see how it pans out on Linux but should be ok I think.
-
IanN
2.5.3.9b1 is due this week
-
frg
Source code is in gitlab now and can be downloaded. Remember that you need JustOffs polyfill add-on for gitlab
-
frg
Has about 1500 or so new patches. Bigger release this time.
-
IanN
at 78.13 on security fixes too
-
frg
Initial ES6 modules support and the PerformanceObserver api is in.Should help with compatibility.

Extensions Tracking
-
frg
CZ is being enhanced :)
-
IanN
that's the direction of travel at least
-
WaltS48
Getting Matrix in CZ?
-
IanN
potentially, but that requires alot of work
-
IanN
the backend of cZ needs some work first, there is lots of code duplication between cZ and what is now available in SM/toolkit
-
IanN
2.Next, Feature List, Planning and Roundtable
-
frg
Nothing to add from me. As usual juggling stuff around to keep SeaMonkey going.
-
IanN
juggling fire sticks?
-
tonymec
roundtable see above
-
tonymec
IanN: didn't know about that /identify command. Been using /ns identify [<nickname>] <password>, that's good enough for me.
-
frg
IanN hot patches and other stuff :)
-
IanN
tonymec: yes, /identify is the way to integrate with password manager and nickserv
-
rsx11m
don't burn your fingers ;-)
-
IanN
tonymec: using /ns doesn't link with password manager
-
IanN
AOB?
-
frg
nope
-
tonymec
IanN: I know. Thus avoiding its inconvenients, quirks and advantages.
-
IanN
okay, thanks for your time everyone
-
IanN
next meeting in 2 weeks, same bat channel, same bat time
-
rsx11m
yepp
-
njsg
tonymec: but do you have any password for the network in the password manager?
-
njsg
I mean, is the password dialog repeatedly showing despite there being a password stored?
-
rsx11m
bye!
-
IanN
bye rsx11m
-
tonymec
bye
-
tonymec
frg: let me see
-
frg_Away
tonymec are you on the latest build?
-
IanN
frg_Away: from yesterday I believe
-
WaltS48
bye!
-
IanN
bye WaltS48
-
frg_Away
WaltS48 bye
-
tonymec
frg_Away: yes I am, type "/version tonymec" in cZ and you'll see; but I've been keeping sasl disabled for a week or so. I have stored passwords for "ircs://irc.eu.libera.chat:7000 (sasl), username tonymec|away" and for "ircs://irc.eu.libera.chat (sasl), username tonymec".
-
tonymec
njsg: yes, or at least it did until I turned sasl off a week or so ago
-
frg_Away
tonymec I so far only briefly looked at the patches and I think you only want passwords for libera.chat.
-
frg_Away
irc.eu is the server and might not be used. But IanN should know better.
-
tonymec
frg_Away: for just libera.chat I don't have any, and IIRC I cannot type passwords directly into the pwmgr, I have to go to the site in question and let it do its stuff.
-
IanN
tonymec: have you added irc.eu.libera.chat entries to the libera.chat network in network editor
-
IanN
?
-
tonymec
IanN: I've added them in chatzilla/networks.json in my SeaMonkey profile. At the same time I added isDeleted entries for moznet and freenode.
-
IanN
connecting to a server that is not listed against a network, means it will store it against the server URL rather than the networkURL
-
tonymec
IanN: yeah, after I made this entries I noticed that it connected to ircs://irc.eu.libera.chat, and in case of failure to ircs://irc.eu.libera.chat:7000, but that the server tab in the cZ window now says "libera.chat".
-
tonymec
s/this/these/
-
tonymec
IanN: frg_Away : do you want me to send my networks.json to the members mailing list? My ISP shut down user sites a short while ago.
-
IanN
-
frg_Away
tonymec Best if IanN looks. He is the expert currently.
-
tonymec
IanN: yes it is. Didn't remember I had put it there.
-
tonymec
frg_Away: checked my installed software. ffmpeg-3 is installed and ffmpeg-4 is available.
-
frg_Away
tonymec Was only one of many problems reported so might be anything.
-
tonymec
frg_Away: huhuh.
-
frg_Away
haha
-
tonymec
frg_Away: well, I'll try installing ffmpeg-4 just in case, if it breaks nothing else.
-
tonymec
on the 22nd I probably won't be here.
-
tonymec
bye
-
frg_Away
tonymec|away bye
