Win7. Win7 taskbar. somehow, /some/ of my program icons have changed to SeaMonkey's icon. like i have Foxit open & it is displaying a SeaMonkey icon. had a command prompt window that had SeaMonkey icon. have other command prompt windows that do not. close & reopen Foxit, & it is correct. (Foxit was & had been correct - for a while. It & SeaMonkey have been open for some time now.) Odd.

IconCache.db is dated 3-18-21, fwiw

1 icon, a text file i had open, that changed to a SeaMonkey icon, when i (now) closed SeaMonkey, it's icon changed to Bank Of America's /favicon/ (which is what i had open in SeaMonkey).

now isn't that weird!

therube Never happened here. Updated the taskbar code yesterday but unrelated fix for crashes.

i was on the build of 7-26. just put in 8-4's.

Sounds like unrelated registry corruption or some of the default file handlers changed to SeaMonkey.

frg_Away: with the SM 253.10b1 from yesterday the file associations from many doc types have changed to SM, eG when I try to open a doc file, a xsl or jpg file with a double click, Windoes askes me with wich program a want open the file and SM as the first option

hardys There were zero changes in the installer code whcih sets the file extensions. I can not duplicate it here under 7, 8.1 and server 2016

on my end, i don't install. i unzip the .exe installer & simply run seamonkey.exe.

frg_Away: here i want to open a gif and I am asked to choose an app for opening. As You can see SM is the first option I can choose.

hardys unable to reproduce. SeaMonkey is the first because it is listed as new. Just installed Bills latest build and kept .gif with Paint. Check Windows 10 file associations.

There was nothing in yesterdays build even remotely touching handlers.

AS you can see in the screenshot, the correct program is chosen (Windows Fotoanzeige) but you have to confirm it with every file type

and I am not aware of any other program update from yesterday

hardys this happens when Windows does not have a default program checked. It then lists the known programs for a file type. Check "Immer diese App zum Öfnnen von .gif Dateien verwenden" and it will end. I don't know how it lost the setting.

Hardys I can only say I just installed Bills latest build on 21H1 and the problem didn't manifest for me. It seems internally Windows lost something or decided it was time. to loose some settings :)

I think it happened with Bills build from yesterday. I always install the last build from him every day.

hardys This is bascally still the final 2.53.9b1 code so if something is wrong we should hear about it with the official release :) But I really didn't touch anything here in the last few days.

it is possible some other program caused the reset (old WinZip was known to do that)

therube I have paint as the default program. Wonder if one of the internal apps got updated from the store. I have deleted them if possible amd don't think an update here shows in the update history. Windows 10 is really bad with the store junk and more traditional updates delivered in parallel.

i just spent all afternoon cursing at someone else's Win10 system ;-)

therube One of the reasons I am still on 8.1. In 2023 I will either migrate to Server 2016 or Linux but probably 2016. Page looks fine to me.
