this is a clue that 2.53.9b release is iminent. this is how this has always worked

2.53.9 source is basically final and now we are on the next version.

althought my builds switch to being 2.53.10b1pre this is really just a version change no really next version changes bing added at this point becuase really a place to test late changed to 2.53.9

perhaps I should not change the topid until 2.53.9b1 is out? but then what builds I offer would confuse people

maybe a "2.53.9b1 release is imminent" could work
