-
shrini
so that people can learn one byte at a time
-
Karunakaran
hello shrini
-
shrini
yes Karunakaran
-
shrini
GPU is power killer
-
shrini
sudo apt install powertop
-
shrini
and then
-
shrini
sudo powertop
-
anish
ok shrini i will keep that in mind
-
shrini
this will give you the top most battery killing applications
-
Karunakaran
the gde is also taking too much ram
-
shrini
check them and know who is eating battery
-
shrini
htop, btop are other utilities to know who is eating ram

Karunakaran
thank you shrini
-
sugi
shrini I worked on adding new entry - now trying to diaplay all in the list
-
shrini
good
-
shrini
hope it is coming good
-
sugi
and with bootstrap also my design is very worst.
-
shrini
ah
-
shrini
dont think that way
-
shrini
for now, a simple form with bootstrap css is enough
-
shrini
dont worry on the beauty
-
sugi
I am struggling to design -- coding part interestingly doing
-
shrini
that is the headache of frontend designers always
-
shrini
then, you are a born backend engineer
-
shrini
dont worry about the frontend
-
sugi
Shrini : no no
-
sugi
I am OK - learner - beginner
-
shrini
its okey to have a non "wow" frontend
-
shrini
dont spend too much attention to that
-
sugi
actually 2 days completely wasted
-
shrini
there is no wastage in learning
-
shrini
every attempt to do something is some learning
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
shrini
result is not important
-
shrini
the progress and process is important in learning
-
shrini
CSS is not easy as programming
-
shrini
-
sugi
Specifically in SQL any projects are there in Kaniyam?
-
shrini
check this site now
-
shrini
then this
-
shrini
-
shrini
with same content, different CSS can give complete different look
-
sugi
ok
-
shrini
they are done by great designers
-
shrini
check few designs and reply here
-
shrini
Karunakaran: share some intro about you
-
shrini
how did you got to know about this IRC meetings?
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
shrini
what client do you use?
-
Karunakaran
hello shrini, i am following kanchi lug/ villupuram lug from my college days (around 2015), also following your blogs but not frequently.
-
shrini
oh nice Karunakaran
-
shrini
thanks
-
shrini
do you have any blog?
-
shrini
you can read all our blogs at

-
sugi
ok shrini
-
sugi
shrini If I am working on another window, is there any way to indicate that I received some message in IRC?
-
Karunakaran
do you know shrini, some years before Ezhil language founder mr.Muthaiah Annamalai was arranged a meeting at chennai. I am also one of the person invited by him but due to some personal reasons i cant attend.
-
shrini
sugi: i will explore on IRC notification
-
shrini
oh, nice Karunakaran
-
shrini
-
shrini
check here that event photos on march 24 2018
-
hariharan
Is there any channel for emacs
-
hariharan
In irc
-
Karunakaran
nice event
-
shrini
#emacs is there hariharan
-
shrini
it is very active
-
shrini
Karunakaran: start a blog soon and write your learnings and activities
-
shrini
hariharan: you too write about the open-tamil-php works
-
shrini
and the other things you do
-
shrini
documenting what we do is very important
-
shrini
it will inspire others
-
shrini
#emacs-beginners is also there
-
shrini
sugi: I am living in terminal or emacs for all my life
-
shrini
for me also, design is tough
-
shrini
even a basic form is tough for me
-
shrini
dont worry much on the design
-
shrini
just add a simple form and add bootstrap css
-
Karunakaran
/documenting what we do is very important// nicely said srini, i realized this long ago. also the truth is i love documenting. I will start soon.
-
shrini
once the addressbook project is completed, we can move to next project
-
shrini
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
hariharan
sugi: To sharpen your frontend skills try fronend-mentor websites to learn design principles
-
shrini
I am writing here since nov 1 2006
-
sugi
shrini please give some sql based project
-
shrini
sure
-
shrini
once you are fine with the CRUD thing on data based projects, it is same for all the projects
-
shrini
Create Read Update Delete - CRUD
-
hariharan
sugi: You have already a sql project
-
hariharan
Address booj
-
shrini
we will be doing the same things for all the projects
-
shrini
hariharan: her current project is using html/css/js and LocalStorage as backend
-
sugi
/
-
shrini
no SQL there
-
sugi
I am writing here since nov 1 2006/ Thats great
-
shrini
once the current addressbook is done, make the same with SQL as backend
-
shrini
but to use SQL, you need a language like python or java
-
sugi
yes let me try on java
-
sugi
as i am learning now
-
shrini
fine, then make it as a command line application first
-
shrini
then, make a web application
-
sugi
sure shrini
-
hariharan
I'm writing when ever i have time 3 post per week for consistency right now
-
shrini
yes, thats a good plan
-
shrini
Karunakaran: are you working on any projects?
-
shrini
hariharan is porting open-tamil to php
-
shrini
sugi: how are your talk preparations going on?
-
shrini
-
hariharan
shrini: how do you approach old spaghetti code
-
shrini
get the HTML book from here
-
sugi
not yet started, but had discussion with Sir
-
sugi
sure shrini
-
shrini
in slideshare.net, you can get free slides on any topic
-
shrini
you can use them too
-
shrini
no need to work on slides from scratch
-
sugi
ok
-
shrini
at the same time, create small sample HTML files, for each topic
-
shrini
and show them and explain them one by one on the demo tine
-
shrini
time
-
shrini
its ok, if you show only the code or doc and explain
-
sugi
actually planned to show some Registration form which have variety of controls - then from scratch explaining and designing
-
shrini
you can skip slides too
-
shrini
ok
-
shrini
proceed with your plans
-
sugi
Muthu Sir gave this idea
-
shrini
that will be interesting
-
sugi
shrini : have seen the css links
-
sugi
let me try on that
-
shrini
nice
-
sugi
but my own design also will post once its over
-
sugi
then this also like a copy
-
shrini
css zen garden is a good example of how css can give wonderful makeover for same content
-
shrini
CSS itself is a powerful thing
-
shrini
it will take time to master it
-
shrini
it is an art form
-
shrini
like drawing/painting
-
sugi
yes shrini - its an art - thats why struggling :)
-
shrini
so dont go down if you can are not good at any art
-
sugi
ok
-
shrini
go slow and steady
-
sugi
yes
-
shrini
we can not be good at many things at a same time
-
sugi
yes. true
-
sugi
can i sign off now shrini?
-
shrini
hariharan: can you explain your query?
-
shrini
sure sugi
-
shrini
thanks
-
sugi
thanks shrini
-
Karunakaran
sugi://actually 2 days completely wasted//. sugi i have to tell one thing from my experience. In programming/ learning there is no wast of time. While I am working on my project during college days i am very beginner to programming, with my own interest i started to develop some applications, that time i will get more number of errors and mistakes so i will keep trying to solve the errors
-
Karunakaran
but i could not. at the same time i progress only a little bit for a whole day, like if i clear a error in a line then while building the project the error will occur at another line. In my case while i am going sleep i will remember like "i made a progress today" even its a very simple/ small progress its worked for me. at the same time i will visualize my goal. so dont think like this.
-
Karunakaran
no shrini i am not bounded with any projects
-
shrini
correct Karunakaran
-
shrini
progress is important on the learning phase
-
shrini
will ask sugi to read the chatlogs tomorrwo
-
shrini
all our chats are logged here automatically
-
shrini
-
shrini
thanks to our logbot_cc
-
shrini
Karunakaran: do you have time to pick some project?
-
shrini
have to worked on open-tamil ?
-
shrini
hariharan: you got a reply email from muthu
-
shrini
thanks for the PR
-
shrini
-
Karunakaran
even if it changed from null pointer exception to some other error, i will think like i did something today.
-
shrini
hope it get merged soon hariharan
-
anish
i will work on flask tommorow shrini
-
shrini
nice anish
-
shrini
Karunakaran: check our project ideas from here -
github.com/KaniyamFoundation/ProjectIdeas/issues
-
anish
i will join again tommorow
-
shrini
ok anish
-
hariharan
shrini: I have difficulties in understanding old codebases where no framework or clean code practices made in codebase
-
hariharan
Its harder to get the flow to know what done there for
-
shrini
welcome to the real world
-
shrini
we have to break our heads with staring the code for hours and hours
-
shrini
that is the only way
-
shrini
good way to start is to add tons comments
-
shrini
with our understanding
-
Karunakaran
even though i dont have time i will look into the project ideas shrini.
-
shrini
near each function/method
-
shrini
thanks Karunakaran
-
shrini
hariharan: add more comments with your understandings
-
shrini
thats is a good start
-
hariharan
shrini: I have updated ubuntu os to ssd but it still takes 1.5mins to run the start job
-
hariharan
Why?
-
shrini
what is the start job you are refering hariharan ?
-
shrini
do you mean the time taken after login screen and to get the ubuntu desktop?
-
shrini
check the autostarting daemons and stop them all
-
shrini-irccloud
Ping
-
shrini
sethu_payilagam: thanks for your next postgres talk
-
shrini
annamalai: thanks for the gdb talk at kanchilug
-
shrini
hariharan: systemctl list-unit-files --type=service | less
-
shrini

-
shrini
to know what are the services are enabled by default
-
hariharan
In Plymouth boot screen after mounting swap system
-
hariharan
/dev/uuid/xxxxxx is starting 0s / 1m30s like timer is running after it runs other services like ssh apache mysql starts and ubuntu desktop login is opening
-
shrini
oh
-
shrini
we need to get some more logs to dig deeper
-
shrini
-
annamalai
