Hi shrini
-
sugi
In localStorage everything is stored like key-value pair like dictionary. in the addressbook - as we discussed if i am taking some key value as id and the data as value.
-
sugi
For ex. localStorage.set(1, "name, emailid, contactno") instead localStorage.set("someName","emailid, contactno)
-
sugi
but the search option is based on the key - searched innet, could not find any search based on the values right side.
-
sugi
so here i have the option to store like name as the key and rest data as value. so that i can make search based on the name.
-
sugi
when name duplicates, let me add name1, name2, etc. For ex. set("shrini1","11237878,shrini⊙kc,kanchi" -- for 2nd user with name shrini let me add like set("shrini2","768569867,name⊙mc,tirunelveli")
-
sugi
So now when i make a search on key value similar to that - i may get the data --- i have to explore it.
-
sugi
or if u know any best option in localStorage please advise.
-
sugi
i am not sure whether i conveyed correctly or confused you - sorry for the long message also
-
sugi
please advise if u want me to correct the way of conveying message also

-
shrini`
hello OffGrid365
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
sugi should explore these links
-
shrini`
will update in evening meeting too
-
sethu_payilagam
shrini`: Good morning Shrini. I have made a small progress. Updated my progress in my blog.
-
sethu_payilagam
I will not be able to join today stand up as I need to go to office. I will join tomorrow.
-
sethu_payilagam
Thank you and have a great day everyone!
-
anish
hi shrini
-
anish
i wrote a blog on python
-
anish
-
shrini-irccloud
Good
-
shrini-irccloud
Hello all
-
shrini-irccloud
Good evening
-
sugi
Good evening
-
anish
good evening
-
sugi
Just now opening checking your links
-
shrini`
good post anish
-
shrini`
are you writing in phone itself?
-
anish
no i used windows to do it temporarily
-
anish
thank you shrini
-
shrini`
ok
-
anish
i also uninstalled arch linux and installed it again using the installation guide
-
shrini`
nice
-
anish
thanks
-
shrini`
write that experience with step on your blog
-
shrini`
whatever you do, learn with linux, take notes and publish in blog
-
shrini`
it will become a great asset slowly
-
shrini`
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
I am writing here for 18 years
-
shrini`
all my learnings, growth, tech friends are results of writing here
-
anish
wow
-
shrini`
hello mohan43u
-
shrini`
amotbeli
-
shrini`
sugi: please share your updates
-
amotbeli
hi shrini, hello everyone
-
shrini`
sugi: check these links
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
check these link now and share your thoughts here
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
good to read the blogs sethu_payilagam
-
shrini`
keep writing
-
shrini`
ask here if you have any quesions sugi
-
shrini`
anish: why did you choose arch?
-
shrini`
arch linux?
-
sugi
shrini i have seen it
-
shrini`
good sugi
-
shrini`
I have read your questions
-
anish
i wanted a very minimal system which i could customize to my will and do many ordinary tasks manually
-
shrini`
ok
-
shrini`
if possible, after some time, install GUI
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
then give a talk about arch linux in kanchilug meet
-
shrini`
are you attending the weekly meetings?
-
anish
no i've not started yet
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
subscribe here for the mailing list
-
sugi
saw the output and got idea about the design--code having a look now, then will update you
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
join here too
-
shrini`
most of the kanchilug meetings are online
-
shrini`
you can attend on sunday evenings
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
check these sites too
-
anish
ok shrini
-
anish
i checked the faker repository to access the tamil names am i supposed to give fake = Faker('tamil')
-
shrini`
yes
-
shrini`
Already there are few tamil names available
-
shrini`
just keep on adding more names
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
check how many tamil names are there already
-
shrini`
then add more names
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
we have a huge tamil names collection here
-
shrini`
you can get from here and publish to faker
-
anish
ok shrini
-
anish
what would you recommend for tamil editors i haven't used before
-
shrini`
tamil editor?
-
shrini`
there is no such thing
-
shrini`
you can write tamil on any editor, just like english
-
anish
so i have to install the locale
-
shrini`
in linux, we have ibus - a keyboard driver for languages
-
shrini`
we have to install ibus and m17n packages
-
anish
ok i will check
-
shrini`
but they need GUI
-
anish
i will do it in windows for now then
-
anish
its only for a few days
-
shrini`
ah
-
shrini`
dont goto windows
-
shrini`
for any reason
-
shrini`
just install GUI in linux
-
shrini`
you have terminal there also
-
shrini`
so you wont miss anything
-
anish
ok i will do it :)
-
shrini`
the more you use linux for all tasks, the more learning will be there
-
anish
ok shrini
-
anish
i will install sway soon
-
shrini`
anish: shall we try this?
-
shrini`
can you share info about 4-5 CLI tools daily here?
-
shrini`
that you use
-
shrini`
or learn from internet and share here
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
once you posted here, you can edit and publish in your blog too
-
shrini`
so that it will become a daily learning stuff
-
anish
ok shrini
-
anish
is it fine if i start very simple like cd and ls also
-
shrini`
yes
-
shrini`
that also fine
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
we had "One day one command" series in our mailing lists
-
shrini`
daily one command also fine
-
shrini`
start writing about them and send to ilugc and kanchilug mailing lists too
-
shrini`
our friend dhanasekar sent for around two years
-
shrini`
all the commands are here
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
you can continue the same service
-
anish
so commands that are not in the list or should i repeat
-
shrini`
you can repeat
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
the more we learn about the commands, the more good life we can have, with computers
-
shrini`
we can automate anything with CLI
-
shrini`
which will give more powers to us
-
shrini`
install the package "tldr"
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
it will give good basic intro about the commands
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
you can just use the same information along with some personal touch
-
anish
but some of the commands the explanation will be very less right
-
shrini`
thats fine
-
shrini`
what ever you learn, share
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
tldr covers most of the important options
-
shrini`
man <command> can give extensive docs
-
anish
i've seen in videos that man command gives an explanation
-
anish
and --help is also useful
-
shrini`
yes
-
shrini`
amotbeli: is there any update from you?
-
shrini`
sugi: any questions?
-
shrini`
hariharan: hope you have good improvements on the disks
-
shrini`
why many people are joining and quitting so quick?
-
sugi
me also can subscribe in the mailing list?
-
shrini`
sugi: amotbeli can you try joining from here too ?
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
and stay for some time there
-
shrini`
just to check if there is any issue with that gamja web client for IRC
-
shrini`
I joined from there as shrini-testing
-
shrini`
no issues so far
-
shrini`
sugi: yes
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
amotbeli
sure shrini
-
shrini`
all we discuss here is for all of us
-
sugi
ok shrini, i think i am getting some idea, let try on my own and will update you tomorrow
-
shrini`
ok
-
shrini`
go through the js code there
-
shrini`
and the functions used
-
shrini`
you have to replicate the same
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
join here too if you are in telegram
-
sugi
just let me explore more about it, but keep the chat is on until shut down
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
shrini`
there is a postgresql training for free in tamil, planned by syed jafer
-
shrini`
stay tuned for further updates
-
sugi
that code is js and jQuery
-
shrini`
yes
-
shrini`
hope you are learnig jquery too
-
sugi
completely i have no idea about it
-
shrini`
jquery and bootstrap will make normal site to great looking site
-
shrini`
start learning jquery and bootstrap
-
shrini`
you can do all the magics with them on a web applicationb
-
sugi
let me try shrini, but i think i will take some time as these are very new stuffs for me
-
shrini`
yes
-
shrini`
take your time for learning new things
-
shrini`
learning the basics is like learning the kitchen ingredients
-
shrini`
it will take time to know about all the things at a super market
-
shrini`
slowly we can learn and start using them one by one
-
sugi
yes shrini
-
shrini`
very soon, we will be using tons of things at kitchen and home
-
shrini`
same in coding
-
sugi
got it shrini
-
sugi
let me surely will give try
-
shrini`
ok
-
sugi
actually we are all grateful to you
-
shrini`
ah
-
shrini`
nothing like that
-
sugi
you are giving your precious time and guidance to improve us
-
shrini`
we all are learning together
-
shrini`
I got all the mentoring from ilugc and kanchilug people
-
amotbeli1
i must agree with sugi
-
shrini`
entire open source community is based on learning and helping from each other
-
shrini`
we have 100000s of software available as open source
-
sugi
all of you doing a great job which is much much appreciatable in this commercial world
-
shrini`
millions of people around the world are contributing all the time
-
shrini`
I am doing my part as a vote of thanks for all the software/knowledge/job/friends I got from the open source world
-
sugi
first of all thanks to Muthu Sir for introducing such a great platform
-
anish
i also agree with sugi
-
shrini`
ஊர் கூடித் தேர் இழுப்பது தான் நாம்
-
shrini`
அனைவரும் செய்வது
-
shrini`
anish may not see the above in terminal
-
anish
yes i can't
-
shrini`
all the FOSS things are like, temple festivals
-
shrini`
where all people join together and do all the works
-
sugi
yes. true
-
anish
that is nice
-
shrini`
a time will come for you to give back in your own way
-
shrini`
you will find and share your knowledge
-
shrini`
actually, you all started with your blogs and code in git
-
sugi
yes shrini, i am improving myself to contribute more. I believe I will do, because of my commitments getting slow
-
shrini`
thats fine
-
shrini`
its always a long game
-
sugi
yes
-
shrini`
just decide to share your knowledge in all possible ways
-
sugi
sure
-
shrini`
blogs/code/training/podcast/youtube video/give talks in open source meetups/conferences etc
-
shrini`
do what ever is possible
-
shrini`
slowly we will be doing all in few years
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
shrini`
in reality, by doing all these, we are helping ourself first
-
shrini`
to learn more and in deep
-
shrini`
which will help to grow in career
-
shrini`
along with the other benifits for the community
-
sugi
ok
-
shrini`
-
shrini`
nithya started write blogs posts in tamil in kaniyam.com
-
shrini`
long back
-
sugi
yes I read this on the first day
-
shrini`
then we published them all as ebooks
-
sugi
good
-
shrini`
still she is learning and writing
-
shrini`
for any interview, she just skims all her books
-
sugi
its good still she is doing.
-
shrini`
and clears the interview
-
shrini`
learning, writing, making videos, teaching
-
shrini`
all these are easy ways to become good at tech topic
-
shrini`
thats why we ask every one to have a blog and write daily
-
shrini`
it will take us to good heights
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
amotbeli1
amazing
-
shrini`
the reading/writing of text in IRC will help to train our eyes to read the text
-
shrini`
you all find your own ways of contributing to the FOSS world
-
shrini`
magics will happen automatically
-
shrini`
just keep learning new things and share the knowledge to all
-
anish
shrini where should i post the 4-5 commands in one day
-
sugi
ok shrini
-
shrini`
anish: you can start with one command also
-
anish
ok shrini
-
shrini`
share here, then in kanchilug/ilugc mailing lists, in your blog, TamilLinuxCommuntiy telegram channel
-
shrini`
and in any other social media where you are
-
shrini`
mailing list/blog are essential
-
shrini`
all others are optional, and based on your time
-
anish
i'm not a very active person in social media so i'll do it in the other channels
-
shrini`
thats fine
-
shrini`
sugi: life will give its own daily tasks
-
shrini`
the more we get older, the less time we will get for ourself
-
shrini`
but, even if we get 10-20 mins daily, we can do many things
-
shrini`
start small always
-
sugi
thank you shrini
-
sugi
i am demotivated myself beacuse of taking lot of time to complete task
-
shrini`
it happens
-
sugi
especially in new stuffs
-
sugi
but wanted to practice to get over that, will do it
-
shrini`
thats normal for all of us
-
sugi
continuous pracitce only i have the one option now - because of long gap -- all like new
-
shrini`
yes, we need to put more time and efforts on learning new things
-
sugi
will do shrini
-
sugi
thank you shrini, will meet here tomorrow
-
amotbeli1
i need to leave. have a good day/night everyone.
-
shrini`
okey amotbeli sugi
-
shrini`
thanks for joining
-
anish
shrini i want to test some things using cd so i will have to log out
-
shrini`
ok anish
-
shrini`
bye for now
-
anish
i will make the blog and put the url here
-
shrini`
ok
-
anish
bye for now
-
anish
hi shrini its a very silly doubt but i want to make sure that i'm absolutely right before publishing it
-
anish
there are some directories which restrict acess even if you are a sudoer
-
anish
for eg: cd /root gives you permission denied
-
anish
is there a way to use sudo to somehow get in without becoming root to do it
-
hariharan
mohan43u: my system currently booted with UEFI
-
hariharan
But if i turnoff legacy support it won't boot
-
hariharan
I don't know why its happening
-
hariharan
From the beginning i tried gpt partitionied disk to boot from uefi mode only but without legacy support it won't boot
-
mohan43u
Enabling Legacy support means the bios is not using UEFI, it is still in MBR
-
hariharan
But my disk is gpt
-
hariharan
Ther is no mbr partition
-
hariharan
EFI system partition is the first one
-
hariharan
And currently i have boot into Windows which shows me boot mode as UEFI
-
mohan43u
hariharan: then why it is not booting if you keep only UEFI in bios?
-
hariharan
Not BIOS
-
hariharan
I Don't know the root cause
-
mohan43u
hariharan: do you have live usb?
-
hariharan
I have ventoy with Ubuntu 20.04LTS and windows 10 22H2
-
mohan43u
hariharan: do you have spare usb?
-
hariharan
No spare usb RN
-
mohan43u
hariharan: did you install your windows using this ventoy?
-
hariharan
Why is ther any problem with my USB that blocks the UEFI boot?
-
hariharan
I have installed this windows using rufus 6 months ago
-
hariharan
Now i Used ventoy to create live usb of windows
-
mohan43u
I don't know about these, is these ventoy, rufus recommended way to install windows?
-
mohan43u
What is the official documentation says about installing windows?
-
hariharan
Windows says that just create bootable usb stick only. There is no steps available from official documentation.
-
hariharan
When we search about tools for create there rufus, ventoy, etcher comes in action
-
hariharan
Rufus is my favorite it works good in my experience.
-
hariharan
I installed ubuntu and windows 10 recently using it
-
hariharan
But this time i tried ventoy
-
mohan43u
-
mohan43u
hariharan: they clearly explain what to do here.
-
hariharan
From your pov i can get native method of creating the bootable drive for windows can resolve my direct UEFI booting problem? Do i understood right mohan43u ?
-
mohan43u
hariharan: Its a try, it may work or maynot, Rufus/Ventody both modify the original iso and do some crazy things which is not a good thing in my opinion
-
mohan43u
^s/Ventody/Ventoy/g
-
hariharan
Yes i agree
-
hariharan
I also tried other booting tools like etcher and unetbootin but both not worked well in my case
-
hariharan
Okay mohan43u Once my new ssd received I will try the native booting method as you said and let you know about it and heartful thanks for the support u gave in debugging
-
mohan43u
hariharan: its all learning
-
hariharan
I am very curious to know how you get to know this much linux stuffs do you have seperate KB article collection for you ?
-
mohan43u
hariharan: I'm using linux as my primary OS for a long time mate, when you use something for a long time, you bound to learn about it a lot.
-
hariharan
✌
-
hariharan
After repairing the EFI partition now i tried turnoff the legacy support it works now i booted successfully into Windows
-
hariharan
When i have connected my old hard drive it is mbr disk so i think i have enabled that for booting the old hard drive from the installation i have not ran single hard drive so that may cause the booting problem without legacy before
-
mohan43u
hariharan: always follow official documentation, if it doesn't work, then you look for alternative ways. there is a reason those people write documentation for us.
-
hariharan
I have successfully installed the grub and its showing the ubuntu in boot manager UEFI
-
mohan43u
installed grub? or ubuntu?
-
hariharan
Using my live usb ubuntu installed grub for the ubuntu os i have installed
-
mohan43u
ok
-
mohan43u
is ubuntu booting from the ssd now?
-
hariharan
While trying to boot kernel panic message comes with exit code 0x00000200
-
mohan43u
try recovery mode in advanced options
-
hariharan
No ubuntu is not booting
-
hariharan
There is two more kernal entries with recovery mode i have trying one by one
-
mohan43u
what is the kernel version?
-
hariharan
5.15.0-124-generic
-
mohan43u
ubuntu 20.04?
-
hariharan
5.4.0-26-generic
-
hariharan
These are shown from advanced menu
-
hariharan
Yes ubuntu 20.04 image i have installed
-
mohan43u
try booting from 26-generic
-
mohan43u
if it doesn't work, try recovery from the same 26-generic version
-
hariharan
Both are failing mohan43u
-
hariharan
Same kernal panic message shown and booting process stops
-
mohan43u
in grub screen, type c, then type `ls` what is the output you see, is it showing gpt anywhere?
-
hariharan
Yes its showing gpt 1 to 8
-
hariharan
Gpt5 has ubuntu root directory
-
hariharan
My root partition is xfs file system does any problem with the file system
-
mohan43u
what is the exact name of gpt5 (hd0,gpt5) something like this?
-
hariharan
Yes this is right
-
mohan43u
ok, from grub prompt type 'ls -l (hd0,gpt5)' it will return uuid, do you see the same uuid in 26-generic entry like root=<uuid>?
-
hariharan
In ubuntu by default it boots 5.15.0-124-generic kernel
-
mohan43u
what?
-
hariharan
Same uuid refered in --set-root and linux if block mentioned in grub boot entry definition
-
mohan43u
the line starting with "linux" should contain root=UUID=<uuid> do you see the same uuid which is return from `ls -l (hd0,gpt5)`?
-
hariharan
Same uuid
-
hariharan
I have verified it
-
mohan43u
remove `quiet splash` and type `nomodeset i915.modeset=no nouveau.modeset=no` and see if you able to boot
-
hariharan
Is there any space between i915.modeset=no nouvau.modeset=no
-
mohan43u
hariharan: yes, leave space
-
hariharan
Not booting mohan43u
-
hariharan
From the stack trace there is a syntax error in conf/conf.d/zz-resume-auto line 1
-
hariharan
There after it goes to kernal panic
-
mohan43u
do you see full stack trace in your screen?
-
mohan43u
or partial?
-
hariharan
I will update the stack trace in forum
-
mohan43u
did you install ubuntu freshly or trying to boot the ubuntu you installed before in this ssd?
-
hariharan
-
hariharan
I have not freshly installed today it was installed two days back iam trying to boot it
-
mohan43u
why are you doing this? do you have anything important in that ubuntu?
-
hariharan
That is bare ubuntu done system update installed some packages like lightdm mysql server and other some other software installed
-
hariharan
After sudo apt upgrade not able to boot i think
-
mohan43u
did you synced this ubuntu from your hdd?
-
hariharan
No this is fresh installation i have created partion for / ,/home /swap
-
mohan43u
but this ubuntu was installed before you fully switch to UEFI in bios, am I right?
-
hariharan
and /home partition uses xfs file system
-
hariharan
Yes right
-
hariharan
If i re install the booting issue may resolve
-
mohan43u
hariharan: afcourse, it will go away, but this is a problem in initramfs creation
-
mohan43u
hariharan: it should be fixable without re-installation
-
hariharan
Tomorrow I'm full day available.
-
mohan43u
hariharan: ok, see you tomorrow
-
hariharan
You completed diwali purchase?
-
hariharan
I will try fixing the initramfs and boot then
-
mohan43u
hariharan: ok
-
hariharan
Good night mohan43u
